Guest guest
Definition of HappinessMan wants happiness. He shuns pain. He moves heaven and earth to getthe happiness he wants from sensual objects, and lo, gets himselfentangled in the extricable meshes of Maya. Poor man! He does notknow that these objects are perishable and evanescent, finite andconditioned in time, space, and causation. And what is more, hefails to get the desired happiness from them. Sensual pleasure istantalizing. There is enchantment so long as man does not possessthe objects. The moment he is in possession of the object, the charmvanishes. He finds that he is in entanglement.A worldly man is always drowned in sorrow. He is ever struggling toget something, some money, some power, some position, and so on. Heis always anxious as to whether or not he would get it. Even when heis in actual possession of the thing he so passionately longed for,he is very anxious lest he should lose it.A rich man has great wealth, but he has no children. And so he ispained at heart. A poor man has fourteen children, but he hasnothing to eat, and so he is miserable. One man has wealth andchildren, but his son is a vagabond, and so he is worried. One manhas riches and good sons, but his wife is very quarrelsome. No oneis happy in this world. You cannot have pleasure without pain. Wherever there is pleasure, there is pain. You vainly seek pleasure in gold, in women (or men inthe case of women), in this mundane existence. You cannot haveabsolute happiness in a relative physical plane of pairs ofopposites. The pairs of opposites rotate in their turn. Deathfollows life. Night follows day. Light follows darkness. Painfollows pleasure.Pleasure and pain are two names for one thing. They are two aspectsof one thing. For a worldly man without philosophical knowledge, they appear as two different entities.Real happiness is within you. It is in the Atman. It is subjective. It manifests when the mind is concentrated. When the Indriyas arewithdrawn from the objects outside, when the mind is one-pointed,when there is Vasana-kshya and Manonasa, when you become desirelessand thoughtless, Atmic bliss begins to dawn, spiritual Ananda beginsto thrill. The musk is in the navel of the deer, but it runs here and there tosmell it. The chain is in the neck of the damsel, but she runshither and thither in search of it. The precious diamond is withinyou, but you run after the broken glass-pieces in vain. Even so, theocean of bliss is within you; the fountain of joy is within you; andyet, you run here and there in search of it. The Sun of suns is evershining in you, but your blind eyes cannot behold it. The eternalsound is ringing within you, but your deaf ears cannot hear it.Spiritual bliss is the highest bliss. Spiritual bliss is bliss ofone's own Soul. It is transcendental bliss. It is independent ofobjects. It is continuous, uniform and eternal. It is enjoyed by thesage only. This world is a mere appearance. Mind and the senses are deceivingyou every moment. You have mistaken pain for pleasure. There is noteven an iota of happiness in this sense-universe. Abandon theseselfish struggles and schemes for amassing wealth. March directly tothat wire-puller who is moving these toys of fleshy human bodies, who is keeping up this big show. In Him only you will find lastinghappiness and perennial joy. Merge in Him by practicing dailymeditation and japa.Baba Said...."Keep your faith in any one place (point) you like place, stickquietly to one place."."It is on account of Rinanubandh (former relationship) that we havecome together, let us love and serve each other and be happy"."To remember Him only is to solve the riddle of life and death. Thisis the best and easiest of Sadhanas as it involves no expenditure" ."If you have no other Sadhana. Such as uttering God's name, worshipor devotion etc, but if you take refuge in saints whole-heartedly,they will carry off safely across the ocean of worldly existence"Baba is every where just feel him and keep on saying `Om Sai Ram' towhom so ever you meet.OM SAI SRI SAI JAI JAI SAI!!!
