The secret lies there. The national ideals of India are RENUNCIATION and SERVICE. Intensify her in these channels, and the rest will take care of itself. The banner of the spiritual cannot be raised too high in this country. In it alone is salvation. (V. 228) Our sacred motherland is the land of religion and philosophy - the birthplace of spiritual giants - the land of renunciation, where and where alone, from the most ancient to the most modern times, has been the highest ideal of life open to man. (III. 137) This is the motherland of philosophy, of spirituality, and of ethics, of sweetness, gentleness, and love....India is still the first and foremost of all the nations of the world in these respects.
