As

the Vedas are vast and limitless, it was difficult and would take very

long for ordinary men to study it. Hence, it was classified into four,

so that it can be within the reach of all. The ‘Rks’ or hymns in praise

of the Lord were grouped under Rk Samhitha and Yajur Samhitha. The

verses capable of musical rendition were grouped under Saama Samhitha,

and the formulae and spells were compiled under the Atharva Samhitha.

There is no trace of conflict in any of these texts. They have emerged

to enlighten people in different states of awareness to benefit by the

Divine Guidance and cross the sea of suffering.
