Dear Brothers and Sisters of

Samratchana Family

Selva Kumar has come up with

Great explanations on

Breaking Coconuts.

Congratulations - for collecting such information

and sharing with us.

Incidentally - can someone clarify the concept

of breaking the same on the Road.

Actually - My 6 year old Son and myself were

watching this act of breaking Coconunt on the

Road.

When he asked me - Why are they breaking this

on the Road ?

I had no answer.

Baba in Samratchana - every evening

spends nearly 30 to 40 minutes

to discussing such topics.

I will be grateful if one of our Samratchana

members can through more light on this topic - Please.

Thanks to SelvaKumar - expecting more response from the group.

The breaking of coconuts may be

symbolising that for an individual

to reach the ultimate ,the ego

should be shattered.Consider a pot

immersed inside a ocean .The pot is

containing water. The same water is

present outside also .

When we break the pot the water

inside the pot merges with the

infinite ocean .In the same manner

,we are also the infinite .

We are so much attached to the

name and form which gives the ego

..This attachment to the name and

form can be broken through the

paths of devotion ( where everything becomes

" YOU " and there is no " I "

) or through the path of Gnana (

where everything becomes " I " ) . Only

when the ego is broken we come

to realise who we are - we come

to realise that we are the EXISTENCE -

KNOWLEDGE - BLISS ABSOLUTE ( SAT - CHIT - ANANDA ) .A

silk worm creates it's own prison .If

it wants to to be free ,it can

very easily come out of it .But

it feels very safe and warm

inside and doesnot want to

break open the beautiful house it

has built of it's own .This very

attachment puts an end to the life

of the silkworm .So the attachment to

this life is developed by us

and this attachment creates all the

pain .Once the attachment goes , infinite

bliss results .The ego and attachment

can be killed only with the

help of God and I think

that this may be the reason for

the breaking of coconuts in temples

..

Shankaram Siva Shankaram !!

-- A passer by notices a blind man begging on the streets,

and cries out to the Lord

'O God! Why are you making this poor man suffer?

Please help him out'

to which God's voice booms from the sky

'That's why I created you'.

--

God is heard through the voice of our conscience,

(if only we are willing to listen to and heed it)

so instead of watching poor kids fighting over coconuts

we can break it into pieces and distribute it to them.
