Guest guest
"Edukundalavaada !! Venkataramana!! Govindaa!! Ghovindaa!!". This is the chant that pierces our heart and touches our soul and makes sweet tears of divine love emanate from our eyes. It means "The one who has the seven hills as the abode !!, Lord of Thiru Venkatam - the name of the hill !!, Leader of the Soul !!". We are supposed to visualize the statue of Lord Venkateswara of Tirupathi. Hey! Wait a minute! , we are seeing something different. The vision dancing before our third eye and immersing us in inexplicable bliss is that of a 5' 10'' man adorned in the same attire as that of Lord Venkateswara. He is none other than our beloved Sri Sivashankar Baba, the snake charmer who awakens the divine snake - kundalini shakthi, in each one of us. Many of us consider Sri Sivashankar Baba and Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) to be the same.On this auspicious day of Vijayadasami, we will recollect some of Baba's words which enlighten us about the link between Baba and Balaji. Vijayadasami happens to be the samadhi day of one of the greatest spiritual masters to have walked on Earth - Shiridi Sai Baba. Sri Sivashankar Baba has said in his speeches that Shiridi Baba's guru was Lord Venkateswara himself in human form and shiridi Baba used to refer to him as Venkusa. Venkusa transferred all his powers to Shiridi Sai Baba using Cow's milk as a medium. It was this power in the form of Shiridi Sai Baba which ruled and still rules the heart of millions of devotees. Sri Sivashankar Baba has further said that the ever living spirit of Shiridi Sai has through its penance evolved into Lord Venkateswara himself and has taken the form of Sri Sivashankar Baba to usher in the Golden age of peace and bliss in this world This was the reason that made the spiritual giant Sri Yogi Ramsurat Kumar of Arunachala/Tiruvannamalai to give the title "Baba" to Sri Sivashankar. Sri Sivashankar Baba has also stated in his speeches that the initial power that was bestowed on him by Sri Ragavendra Swamigal on January 26th 1984 was that of Lord Hanuman. He says that , Just as a Satellite is launched into its orbit by multiple stages of rockets, the satellite called Sivashankar Baba was launched into space by the rocket Sri Ragavendra Swamigal. The power of Lord Hanuman acted as the 2nd stage rocket and took Baba to the next level and Baba acquired the power of Lord Rama. In other words Baba got the spirit of Nammaalwar who was the personification of Lord Rama. The 3rd stage rocket of Lord Rama took Baba to the ultimate Lord Venkateswara and Baba and Lord Venkateswara became one and the same. In simpler words Baba says the one inside the body called Sivashankar is Sri Ragavendra Swamigal, who has evolved into Lord Venkateswara. Baba is called as "Siddha Yogi Sri Sivashankar Baba". Baba explains the title "Siddha" as follows. There is a power of a great siddha (Konkanavar) that operates behind the statue form of the lord venkateswara in Tirumala. The same power operates in the body of Sri Sivashankar Baba and hence the title Siddha. This same power had used different bodies like that of Shiridi Sai Baba in the past. Baba in his speech says that the seven hills in Tirupathi represent the seven chakras in the human body and Lord Venkateswara symbolizes the cosmic super spirit who is beyond the seven hills or the seven chakras. Sri Sivashankar Baba is a fully liberated Jeevan Mukta and is thus a cosmic super spirit beyond the seven chakras and is same as Lord Venkateswara Baba finally says that Lord Venkateswara is an all encompassing ultimate divine force who exhibits his power through different deities on different days, He is Lord Suryanaryana on Sunday, Lord Siva on Monday, Lord Subrmania on Tuesday (and hence the name Balaji) , Lord Vishnu on Wednesday, Lord Guru on Thursday, Goddess Devi on Friday, Lord Saneeswara (Anajaneya and Narasimha) on Saturday.Since Baba and Lord Venkateswara are one and the same the above holds good for Baba as well.We can think of him as those different deities on each day of the week and attain maximum benefit. We have got the Lord of Lords in the form of Sri Sivashankar Baba.Sri Ramanuja's advise to devotees is that there are two steps to salvation, the first being acquiring God and the second, serving him through any means. We have achieved step 1. Let us pray to HIM to succeed in step 2 so that we will be part of HIS STORY (Sri Sivashankara Bagavatham) and not just history. Shankaram Shiva Shankaram.
