Guest guest
From a discourse by Shri Needamangalam Subburaman at Samratchana , Neelangarai : Lord Krishna went to Hasthinapur on behalf of Pandavas to talk with the Kauravas .He did not stay at Duryodana's palace .Instead He went to the hut where Vidura was staying . Vidura had left the palace and was living in a small house because Pandavas were at that time roaming in the forests . Vidura did not want to enjoy the luxuries that Pandavas lacked . When Lord Krishna went to Vidura's house ,he was not there .Only Vidura's wife was there .On seeing Lord Krishna ,she was very happy ..Her joy knew no bounds .She greeted Him with great respect . When Krishna was waiting for Vidura ,He told that He was feeling hungry and that He would have something to eat .In the simple life that these couple were leading ,Vidura's wife did not know what to give Krishna .But she rushed to the garden in the backside to bring some bananas .But actually at that time they were not ripe enough to eat .But she did not seem to have noticed that .She was completely filled with Bhakthi that see plucked a handful of bananas which were not ripe .The outer peel was still greenish . Anyway she was bringing them for Krishna .When she was on her way the unripe bananas thought " are we going to the Lord's mouth like this way in a bitter taste " .. So they thought to themselves to become ripe fully before reaching the Lord .As a result they ripened fully inside when the outer cover was still greenish ( these are the green bananas that we see today which will be ripe inside but having a green peel - PACHAI VAZHAI ) ..Vidura's wife did not notice anything .She went to the Lord and offered the bananas one by one .She was completely lost in devotion that she was giving only the green peels ( outer skin ) to Krishna and was throwing away the fruit portion . This was going on and what the Lord did - He was happily eating all the peels that Vidura's wife gave Him . This scene is a beautiful example as to how Bhakthi can make a person lost in themselves and also how the Lord values the love shown to Him .The Lord never minded what was given to Him .He values only the devotion shown to Him - because He is bhaktavatsalan ,the bhakta is very dear to Him .Lord Krishna in the Gita says " IF YOU OFFER TO ME WITH BHAKTHI EVEN A SMALL TULSI LEAF OR A HANDFUL OF WATER I ACCEPT IT WITH GREAT JOY " . The next part : When Krishna was eating all the peels that Vidura's wife was giving Him , Vidura was just entering .On seeing all this ,he was very shocked - what a great mistake that His wife had made .So he wanted to tally it .Lord krishna was sitting on a carpet spread on the ground which was only mud and was not levelled .Vidura asked His wife to bring Payasam made from Dhall ( PAYATHAM PARUPPU PAYASAM ) .He spread a green leaf before Krishna and poured Payasam on it .Since it was very liquid and the ground had up's and downs the payasam was running from one end of the leaf to the other end .Krishna used His one hand to prevent the payasam flowing out of the leaf ,it was again flowing in the opposite direction , He used the second hand -again it was running in other direction ,a third hand appears and holds the leaf - again the flow was not controlled - a fourth hand appears from the Lord's body .Even then the payasam was running and hand after hand appeared from the lord's body till there were ten hands ! The lord with His ten hands bent the leaf like a cup and drank the payasam offered . Lord Krishna told Vidura " oh Vidura ,I needed only two hands to kill Hyranya ,two hands for killing the ten -headed Ravana even .But to drink your payasam I needed Ten hands " . This is the extent to which Bhakthi can penetrate .The Lord cannot be possessed by wordly riches .It is impossible .But He is easily conquered by Love and Bhakthi . Baba says " This is Annamalai of course, this is Palani malai ,Venkatamalai but this is a Malai ( mountain ) easily trapped within a handful of LOVE . KADAVUL ANBENUM PIDIKKUL AKAPADUM MALAI .
