O' Mind

True religion does not prompt you to be fanatic about anything … It coaxes you to go within, and realise the universality of existence and the One beyond. As you live through the mind, do not deny the existence of matter. Both exist, though not as we understand it. Matter is tangible, but in reality is only composed of unseen electromagnetic forces. It is one vibration of God and mind is simply another. Comprehend matter, and then transcend it.A great philosopher once said, “What is mind? Not matter. And what is matter? Never mind!”The mind may be classified into various levels (conscious, subconscious, and superconscious). Each term denotes the range or extent of some state of consciousness. The conscious mind, in simple terms, is as we understand it in our daily conscious living. It has to do with cognition and intelligence, with the realisation of ideas and knowledge, and the expression of our mental perceptions and forces. It connects with the exterior world through the medium of the sensory and motor nerves in our physical body. The subconscious mind is the storehouse of all your memories, including thousands of incarnations gone by. Experiences from the conscious mind enter the subconscious and stay there, until they may be called in to service once again. The conscious is primarily asleep when the subconscious is predominant, as in the sleep state. Dreams are manifestations of the subconscious workings. In the subconscious there is no waking conscious and coherent thought, will, or feeling and yet, during wakefulness too, the subconscious like the loyal serf is constantly working and recording experiences. The super conscious is our soul-consciousness. It is intuitive and all knowing, and manifests the omniscient power of the soul. In the super conscious, we experience sat-chit-ananda (the ever-existing, ever-conscious, ever-new joy of the soul).

The conscious, subconscious, and the superconscious minds are all together active in our lives, though at times one may be more dominant than the other. Again, the mind is in three states; one of which is darkness, called Tamas and found in ignoramuses. It seems to act only to injure and to cause harm. Then there is the active state of the mind called Rajas, whose chief motives are power and enjoyment. The third state is called Sattva, in which serenity and calmness suffuse the inner waves and the water of the mind-lake becomes clear. Traditional science holds the belief that the mind somehow arises out of the chemical and electrical fluctuations of the physical cellular structure of the body. Spiritual science says that the body is in effect a product of the mind. The mind governs the body, and mind plus will power govern everything.

.. “All the body is in the mind, but not all the mind is in the body,”
