Guest guest
Human Golu rare spectacle Golu is adorned with dolls - predominantly with that of the Gods and Goddesses depicting mythology. Common ones being Dasavatharam, Ramar Pattabhishekam, Meenaakshi Thirukalyanam, Murugan and Valli, Krishna in Aayarpaadi etc., It is a traditional practice to have the wooden dolls (Marapaachi - a pair of a boy and girl) as these dolls indicate fertility. The `Golu Vaibhavam' at Siva Sankar's Baba's Samratchana(Kelambakkam) is graced not by inanimate dolls but by people. A novel concept for the world, but not for Samratchana; the `Human Golu' has been functional right since 1997. Navarathri at Samratchana taps the latent creativity in everyone, teamwork, sense of belonging to the world as one large family, and getting to know the world through playing various roles. Themes are decided well in advance, and meticulous preparations get going. Sets are made ready, participants rehearse their part and everything associated with the theme is organized - volunteers themselves make all the arrangements. And Navarathri itself finds people buoyant with excitement and cheer as their Samratchana family members enact the various themes. Navarathri golu at Samratchana is one more heartwarming evidence that people have successfully surmounted the barriers of age, gender, caste, creed, and materialistic station. Navarathri Begins on 25th......themes for Human Golu Sambhavami Yagae Yugae 25th Sankari Siva Sankari 26th Karadi Tales I 27th Taj Mahal 28th Tenali Raman 29th Thiaga Deepam 30th Karadi Tales 2 1st Sivan Arut selvar 2nd Guru Mahima 3rd Bus Journey 4th Vijayadasami on 5th will be celebrated with a Laitha Sahasarnama Parayana Yagam.
