Guest guest Posted December 8, 2003 Report Share Posted December 8, 2003 Dear Friends I am writing to inform you about "One For India - making everyOne count",a web-based fund-raising drive of Association for India's Development (AID),a non-profit organization working for social development in India.Over the last 12 years AID has supported in excess of 300 efforts withgroups and organizations working to strengthen the poor and marginalizedsections in India. These efforts span the areas including health-care,literacy, education, empowerment of women, micro-credit, vocationaltraining and support for the handicapped.The agenda of AID has also broadened to demonstrate solidarity withpeople's movements, and support for grassroots campaigns, adivasi anddalit rights and environmental awareness. In the last four years AID hasalso been supporting disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts insignificant ways after the earthquake and communal violence in Gujarat in 2001-2002, the Rajasthan droughts, and the recent floods in Assam.One for India is AID's campaign to utilize the power of the web to bringpeople together for a common cause.
