By Baba's grace, with persisitent and committed efforts from everyone, a new version of the Samratchana website was launched today. You can visit the website at, http://www..net

 

 

 

With this release, the website has the following New Features:

· Better presentation, usability and ease of navigation

· Main page contains a hyperlinked 'Significance of the day' below the date.

· Samratchana Event Calendar

· Subscription to a bi-monthly eNewsletter containing commentary by Baba, information on special events, latest news, Baba's tour and pilgrimage plans, etc.

· Ability to send eGreeting cards using the website.

· Ability to listen to Samratchana Radio - a continuous audio stream of Baba's speeches interspersed with Samratchana songs

· The Sought Clarifies section - Baba's answers to questions posed by spiritual seekers and ability to post questions to Baba via the website

· Latest news headlines and details

· About Baba section contains the following subsections: HIS Story, Seers' proclamations on Baba's Divinity, HIS Experiences with the Divine, Proof of HIS Divinity, Predictions about Baba, HIS Message

· About Samratchana section contains the following subsections: What is Samratchana, Shortest path to liberation, Spiritual activities, Social-welfare activities, Event Calendar 2004

· Devotees' Experiences section with photograph and experience

· Visitors' Perspectives section with photograph and experience

· Photo Gallery categorized into: Miracles in Fire, Baba, Samratchana, Rama Rajya, School, Pilgrimages and Tours

· Discourses in Audio - current and archived speeches by Baba available for listening and downloading

The new release has better organization of content, better layout,

integration of categories and navigation capabilities, and is very

intuitive. The look and feel has improved a lot.

 

The added features of e-notifications, newsletters and eservices are

good. The presentation and contents in english are excellent and

intuitive. The presentation of topics catering to the tamil readers

might need some improvement. There is no easy way of finding out that

there are speeches or articles in tamil. It is somewhere buried deep

within.

 

There are some missing links like the bottom links in " His Story " .

As far as navigation goes, there is a link in each page to go the

Samratchana home page and to the sub-category home page, but where

there are multiple levels down, it might not be possible to go back

one or two level up (like in Features page) but the only choice is

to go to the Magazines page and click your way down to the desired

featured article which is not too bad.

Again this works only on Microsoft, not on Unix. When I tried to

browse using mozilla I got the following error message:

" Scroller Error: Scroller has already been created. "

and the left section of the home page is completely invisible.

In the hymns section, probably Veda chantings and/or audio recordings

of daily morning and evening aradhana in the Kelambakkam temple or

pujas done on special occasions can be placed in this category.

Overall the website is totally revamped and the team did a

tremendously good job in coming up with such a neat design.
