Dependence on objects is an obstacle. Instead of action there should be repose. Action is also a part of nature. Remain indifferent to worldly pleasures and pains and remain established in God. Repose and dependence on God. Sleep is an hindrance in repose. Chant His name loudly if you feel sleepy, and pray - O Lord. Through gradual practice attain tranquillity and fixing your mind on God through reason controlled by steadfastness, do not think of anything else (Gita 6:25). Draw back the restless mind and repeatedly fix it on God (Gita 6:26). Decide that God is everywhere. Once this decision is made - be silent. Do nothing. Think of nothing. God is within and without all beings (Gita 13:15). Be indifferent to any and all thoughts that come. Neither think of them as good or bad. Do not even try and stop them or remove them. Think of nothing. God is everywhere. He is completely present everywhere. By even thinking of Him, you will not get Him. Become unattached with the world. He is omnipresent. He is eternal while the body and world are perishable. He is All Truth, All Bliss and All Consciousness. He is naturally present. He IS. Be silent and you will realise Him. You have to do to attain the world and worldly objects. To attain Him - you have to Not Do. World is attained by thought - God is attained by thoughtlessness (no thought - think of nothing). God IS - World is NOT. The world is flowing like the Ganges - ignore it. Do nothing. Be silent - remain calm. This is a very good spiritual discipline.
