Last evening, we went to a newly-built Ramar temple here in Yangoon. The kumbabhishegam of the temple took place on the 13th. Now the story behind how the temple came up was very interesting. About 6-8 (don't know the exact date but this is a recent happening) months back the ship of a local burmese-tamil businessman bumped against something. So the crew (workers) were curious to see what was underneath. They found an old ship wreck. When they tried to find out if anything was there underneath, they found an idol. Now all the workers were Muslim, and they thought since it was some hindu diety which was of no use to them they might as well throw it back in the sea. When they were about to do so, rays ( " oli " ) came out of that statue's eyes (black statue). They got scared and thought it best to hand it over to their hindu boss and they did the same. Then the businessman (boss) and his brother both got a dream at night, where the lord said that He had come to do good to them. From then on, there was a marked improvement in their lives and they decided to build a ramar temple. Now the cost factor (to build the temple) they thought they would share, but to their good luck the burmese govt decided to bear the full cost (10000 lakh kyatts (where 20 kyatts = 1 Rs) . And within 4-5 months the temple was constructed and on the 13th of this month they also did the kumbabhishekham. Murali went for the Kumbabhishekham and last evening all of us went to see the temple. My father in-law was very touched by everything and was saying Burma is definitely blessed. Do write to me once in a while girls. Luv Neeru
