Mahashivarathri - Baba On Mahashivarathri day ,to be in the thoughts of Lord Shiva, for the whole 12 hours( evening 8.00pm to next day morning 7a.m) ,without sleep, chanting the name of shiva in a good effort. Wandering mind, even in half an hour ,it keeps wandering, so in that way, keeping awake the whole night & chanting the name of the lord is a Good effort. Secondly, Mahaans like Paramachariar have given meanings for such special days like Shivarathri, since there are different time frames. A day in Deva Logam = one month in World of Dead (Pitru Logam) = one year in Earth (Boologam). One one particular day, these 3 days come together.That time,our ancestors have

kept Saraswathi pooja, so on that day, the same festival is celebrated in all the 3 worlds. So, Mahashivarathri is the time, when the gates of Kailash are kept open.That's why, we have to do pooja on Mahashivarathri day.So, at this time, In Pitru logam, the dead are awake, In Kailash also, there is lot of poojas & fanfare. So, they will see what is happening on the earth(Boologam). A nice organisation like SAMRATCHANA , RAM RAJYAM,where Vedas, Yagams ,nice devotional songs with music , when this is happening ,they will all Bless you.The dead (Pitrus) will bless you & the demigods will bless you & also the Devadhirajan -Indira will bless you.All this is due to the result of your previous birth pooja.

It was on this Shivarathri day that Shiva gave darshan as a Jyothi swaroopam. & poojas & yagams are conducted for Shiva the whole night. Although there are monthly Shivarathris, but this MahaShivarathri is a major festival for Shiva.In Samratchana, Ramrajya, Kelambakkam, Mahashivarathri, there are poojas and cultural festival all through the whole night. Bhajans on Lord Shiva and cultural programmes. Evening 8.00 pm to next day morning 7.00 a.m with 6 kala pooja for Shiva.- 6 times pooja . Vilva leaves are very auspicious for Lord Shiva & abhishekams are performed for Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is Abhisegha Piriyan . which illustrates that even, when we unknowingly do Shiva Pooja, you get Shiva's Divine Grace. Once there was a hunter, who used to daily go for hunting animals.Their family used to feed on whatever hunt, he brought home. That day, it was a depressing day for him coz, any bird or animal didnt fall into his eyes.He was very tired. But, the necessity that He should take something & go to his home for food.His parents,wife & children were all waiting for him. In the dusky evening, the hunter was wandering & saw a pond.An idea flashed to him & he thought anyway, any animal will come to drink water here, so that time, He will kill it.There was a tree near the pond & He climbed upon the tree & sat on a branch.In his left hand ,He had an arrow, on his back he had a bag to carry his prey. & his shoulder, he

carried a water bag filled with water. That hunter didnt know many things, That day was SHIVARATHRI, & the tree which he had climbed was a VILVA TREE & there was a SHIVALINGAM below the tree. On Shivarathri, the first time frame ( 1st JAMAM ) had started. He was keenly looking at the pond. Then he saw a deer coming & then he thought he got a good catch today & he hit an arrow at it, it cut past the vilva tree leaves, but it missed the target deer & fell next to the deer. The arrow hit the tree & the VILVA LEAVES came down on the SHIVALINGAM as ARCHANAI.Also, water spilt from his water bag & fell on the LINGAM as ABHISHEKAM. So, the hunter, Unknowingly, on SHIVARATHRI day, had done VILVA ARCHANAI & WATER ABHISHEKAM FOR SHIVALINGAM in the first JAMAM POOJA. The deer saw this & thought that anyway ,it will be killed by the next arrow & begged the hunter "See, my husband, children,my sister are all waiting for me at home.Later on,you kill me.So, If i die, no one will take care of my husband & children, so I will go & get my sister married to my husband.Please do not kill me, till such time."! .So, the hunter felt pity & agreed. The deer ran away. By that time, the other deer came in search of her elder sister deer.The hunter thought it was the same deer & shot an arrow at it.Now, also, his target missed,but the VILVA LEAVES & WATER FELL on SHIVALINGAM as ARCHANAI & ABHISHEKAM. Now, this was the 2nd time frame ( 2nd JAMAM POOJA). The younger

sister deer begged to the hunter "I have come in search of my elder sister.I will see if she has come home.Till that time, pls do not kill me"! The hunter felt pity again & agreed. When the 3rd time frame ( 3RD JAMAM) started, the male deer along with his children, came near the pond's shoure ,in search of it wife.The hunter thought that this was a nice opportunity & shot an arrow at it. Now also, it missed its target & the VILVA LEAVES & WATER fell on SHIVALINGAM as ARCHANAI & ABHISHEKAM in the 3RD JAMAM POOJA. So, all the deer ran away. So,this hunter thought,that he was fooled 3 times.Next, the whole deer family came near the pond. It was the 4th time frame ( 4TH JAMAM). Again, the hunter shot an arrow, again,it was VILVA LEAVES ARCHANAI & WATER ABHISHEKAM for SHIVALINGAM. Now, also,it missed it target. But, in a flash,He saw a Bright light, PARAMESHWARAN(SHIVA) & PARVATHI gave darshan for the hunter. "UNKNOWINGLY ,IN THE 4 TIME FRAMES (4 JAMAMS) ON THIS SHIVARATHRI DAY, YOU HAVE DONE VILVA LEAVES ARCHANAI & WATER ABHISHEKAM FOR ME, SO YOU NOT NOT GET ANY DIFFICULTIES IN LIFE. Okay,What other wish do you want, ask ?. The hunter said "OH PARAMESHWARA! I don't want to kill animals to take care of my family. Please bless me & give me an opportunity to earn a living , in some other trade." SHIVA blessed him & said" Your wish is granted".The deer family,which was responsible for his change of mind, He converted them into MirugaSeerusha stars & He permanently made them shine in the sky. So,

Unknowingly, doing SHIVAPOOJA ,there is a 1000 crore Good deed.So, for those who help them also, they got SHIVA'S DIVINE GRACE. So,If you knowingly do Shivapooja on MAHASHIVARATHRI day, staying awake the whole night, being in the thoughts of Shiva & chanting the name of Shiva ,You will get lots of Good deed.
