Dear children,

As I informed you I had some problem in my pc and I

had to format it and reinstall all softwares againg.

Now I am not able to convert wavefiles into .ra

filesl, instead I am converting them into .rm files.

These files are a little bigger files. May be it may

take some more time for you to download them.

Otherwise the speeches are as clear as they were

previously. I need your comments on them.

With lots of love,

Vidya Mami

Shankaram Siva ShankaramDear aunty,The quality is good, but the size of the file is too big (65 MB) because it is recorded @ 44.1kHz. Please try to download and install the following audio converter.http://www.nch.com.au/switch/switchsetup.exeThis is a free software and can convert the audio into many formats. The switch software can convert the audio to a lower sampling rate and the size of it comes down drastically to upto 1/10 of the original size.It was possible to convert the speech to mp3 @ 16 kHz without compromising the quality and the size was down to 9 MB. You could possibly select the

output file type as mp3 and sampling rate as 16000 Hz.Regards,Srinivas.Santhana Krishnan <vidyaskrishSSS Cc: vidyaskrishSent: Wednesday, October 24, 2007 10:09:53 AM new format of speeches

Shankaram Siva ShankaramDear all,mp3 might be a better format to choose as some of us are also directly

downloading the speeches to an ipod or an mp3 player to listen at their

convenience and real audio format is not supported on any device. I guess 16 kbps rate should be good enough to play on any

mp3 player. Right ?

If anyone has an mp3 player which doesn't support 16 kbps sampling rate they can suggest the minimum supported rate.

Dear Aunty, As Mr. Srinivasa has rightly pointed out, we would greatly appreciate if you could please convert the speeches onto mp3 format. Sometimes, I dont get to use the same computer everyday and not necessarily every computer consists of a real player in my university. If the format is going to be mp3, it can be played by a Windows Media Player which is installed by default in every computer whose operating system is Windows. I also believe all other Samratchanites will be okay with this. Will really appreciate if you could please look into it. Thank you Aunty. All of your hardwork does benefit us and we hope you continue being kind to us as always.
