Shankaram Siva Shankaram

First, do not get attached to anyone. Do not follow anyone. Just learn to flow along with life. A Mahaan’s guidance will help you reach this state faster.

Getting a true Mahaan to guide you on the right track, is by itself a blessing. It will happen only if it is destined to be so. There are two types of shepherds - one who works for wages, the other is the owner. If the cattle are watched over by a person working for wages, and a wolf comes to prey on the cattle, the guard will escape in a bid to save his own life; he will not bother about the cattle. But if the cattle is being tended by the owner himself, and a wolf stalks, the owner will not think twice about risking his life to save the flock.

Similarly if you attain a true Mahaan, you have the protection of a good shepherd. You will be safe from any wolf that stalks. The Mahaan will guide you on the right path, whether he is physically present or not. He serves mankind impartially

and selflessly, showering his love on them, and guiding people gently on the right path.

One day, some travelers in a ferry got drunk and mocked at a hermit seated beside them. There was an oracle from the skies, 'Swamiji, if you instruct, I will rock the ferry and drown them.' The miscreants immediately went to the holy man and apologized. The saint pleaded with the Almighty,' Shiva, can you do this, being God? If you decide to rock the ferry, you might as well transform these people's mind and lead them unto You'.

That is the true frame of mind of a Mahaan. He is in constant prayer for the well-being of society at large. That is Siva Shankar Baba's state. Samratchana has been brought into existence by God's Grace, with the purpose of guiding people on to the proper path to realize the divinity within them. If you utilize this golden opportunity, you will taste success in everything you do. I do not teach philosophy and confuse you. I mould seekers in the spiritual path, and that automatically takes care of their worldly needs too.

Hurdles form the foundation of life's achievements. One has to wade through whirlpools in the struggle of life. The human fish have to thrive despite these whirlpools, because life is all about survival of the fittest. The extent to which a human being submits gracefully to life's pressures and obstacles determines the height to which he can elevate himself. Whosoever rose above the limitations of the body, caring not for rest or petty pleasures of the world, but toiled unceasingly, those names are inscribed in the pages of History. Nothing else endures.

People restrict themselves to self-formed cages, assuming that life is like a railway track that trains must move on. That immobilises them from understanding their innate divine potential. A train cannot move of its own accord through the dense mountains and wild forests and explore the magic of nature.Spiritual life must run like the river, trace its own course, as it journeys at its will, till it ultimately reaches the sea - - that is how the soul gets absorbed into the Paramatma Sagara (Ocean Divine). Learn the good from everyone, but blaze your own trails. That is the way of

spiritual life.

To untie a knot, you have to analyze how it was tied and then slowly and steadily attempt to release it. If you hurry through the process, it will land up tauter than before. A patient attempt will surely help you unfasten it faster. When you pass a string through a needle, do it patiently lest the string breaks. Similarly, the cause of your present bindings is in your past birth. It makes sense to allow an all-knowing Mahaan to unravel it for you, in a way that is best for you.

Do not try to suppress any thoughts. Sit silently for half an hour and keep watching your thoughts, without attempting to change them. Let them be vulgar; let them be angry; let them be hateful; let them be sinful according to you. Just allow them to flow. At some point of time, your mind will become calm. It is all training the mind to be tame by allowing it to wander so that it exhausts itself of all thoughts. Then nothing can disturb you. You will remain placid amidst the mad rush of this world. It is the projection of the mind that flashes objects on the screen. Once you switch off the projector, you do not see anything on the screen. The same is true of life too. Switch off your mind and become blank, you will transcend thoughts.

Assume a lady has 500 dresses. Even if she wears three sets of dresses a day, how many sarees can she really use? A few weeks later, in a fit of spring cleaning the house, she is bound to give away the dress to her maid servant, or gift some dresses to her friends or relatives. Only when you have something in excess of your need for it, will you be able to give away. If you yourself are in need of something, how can you give it away? Paucity of resources is a prime reason for selfishness. Once you grow beyond needs, you will nurture the thought to ‘give unto others’. That is the foundation for Love. Make an attempt to go beyond needs, gradually and naturally.

We consume so many unnecessary food items. We are not manual laborers; our work is more intellect-oriented. Those who do intellectual work need not eat the same quantity or type of food as manual laborers need? That excess food can be spared to someone who is in need of it. But people are not interested. They eat large quantities in haste and land up searching around for a digestive medicine. Grow mellowed enough to think of sharing what you can with others.

Temple prasadam is ‘prasadam’ regardless of the quantity. It is a question of your thought. Regardless of whether you light a single lamp or several lamps in the temple, what you light is still a lamp. Regardless of whether you perform abhishekham to the idol with one litre of milk or several litres of milk, it is still abhishekham. At best you can scout around proudly telling everyone, ‘I did abhishekham with so many litres of milk’. What does God gain from that? Even if you perform abhishekham with ocean quantity of milk, it is still a trifle as far

as God is concerned, is not it?

So learn to transform your thoughts, lessen your needs and share what you can with others, and you will start tasting the nectar of love. And then you will evolve into Divinity.Love springs from within. No one can teach anyone ‘love’. It is an inherent quality in every one of us.

God is true; because it was He who created you.You are true; because you have been created.
