Guest guest
Shakaram SIva Shankaram You should learn to love everyone like how a mother loves her child. Then you are either becoming divine or have already become divine.Normally, what do you do? You feel love only towards those favorable to you. You don’t feel love towards others. When we see those whom we favor approaching us, our face becomes radiant and we exclaim, “Welcome, Welcome!â€. If a person whom we dislike is nearby, we turn our face away. The same face – but displays two different reactions to two different people. It is that which has not made you divine yet. Learn to treat everyone alike. Good people, bad people, those who have done good for you, those who have caused you harm – you should learn to treat everyone alike. If you can do that, then it means you have become divine. People will start worshipping you and you will have a temple in your name. But you have to develop this quality. Without possessing this trait, you will not be able to place the next step in your spiritual journey, despite any number of mantras you chant, any amount of penance you do and any number of pilgrimages you make. God has never been concealed. Suppose, there is a veil over God. Rama, Buddha, Jesus, withdrew the veil. Then you should have seen God. But it was not visible to you. Therefore, the veil was never over God. The veil was on Jesus, he withdrew it – perceived God. The veil was on Mohammed Nabi, he withdrew it and perceived God. The veil was on Buddha, he withdrew it and perceived God. The veil was on me, I withdrew it and am perceiving God. What I’m telling you is this – “The veil is on you. God is present here. Withdraw your veil and perceive God. I will help you unveil.†This is Spirituality. The veil is on you. In order to withdraw the veil of illusion, there are some ingredients you must develop. You have to be loving towards everyone. You should discard anger and hatred. You should develop patience. You should discard selfishness and partiality. You should become like the air we breathe. So many people are seated here. The air passes through everyone’s nostrils. It does not discriminate based on a person’s virtues. It passes through everyone’s nostrils without any bias or judgment. If you can become thus, it means you are divine. The atmosphere is divine. The river flows. Does it say, “You can bath here, but you shouldn’t†and arise and create an uproar? Anyone can bathe there. If you can become like the river, then it means you are divine. The rain pours down. It pours on the fields, it pours in the drains, it pours into the rivers. It does not frame rules saying, “This is a drain, I will not pour hereâ€. It pours down uniformly. You should become like that. You should learn to be the same towards everybody. If you can become like the rain, it means you are divine. In all of God’s creations, it is we who are the most intelligent. Yet, it is only mankind that has not reformed. How noble is the rain! How noble is the air! How noble is the river! But see how selfish man is! “The cloud does not rain for itselfThe gentle breeze does not blow for itself The river does not flow for itself Man alone lives for himself.†Does nature bill you? Does it ask anything of you? But we alone have a reason and a motive for doing anything. There has to be some opportunity or benefit for us in it. Otherwise, we will not do it. It is when we develop the trait of impartiality that we can become divine. That is the characteristic of Spirituality. I am also one like you. I was born to a school teacher’s family in North Arcot District. Look at me today! Now I am able to render service to any extent. By my life I have proved that such a divine state is possible. Attempt it. You too can become divine. You can look upon God as any relation, and He will live up to you in that form, because He is beyond all forms and relations! Dhruva’s worldly father did not seem to care for him, and when this young prince wept for lack of love, Narada initiated him into the Narayana mantra, advising him that the Lord is the Eternal Father for everyone, and He never let down anyone who sought His Love and Care. And because Dhruva was firm in his devotion to attain the Lord, he is now a star in God’s Kingdom, lighting our way to The Truth, when we are shrouded by the ignorance of darkness cast upon us by the illusion of worldly relationships. If Dhruva had remained the crown prince of a doting king, he would have reigned for long and passed away as one more ruler on Earth. He looked upon God as his True Father and therefore became a guiding star. If you take on to God as Your Eternal Father, you too can become a shining star in God’s Galaxy. There are several such instances - - Meera looked upon God as her Lover, as her Husband. And therefore she is remembered even today. Andal, because of her exemplary Love for God, has gained a sanctum near Him in every temple dedicated to the Lord. Such are the insights instilled in us by the story of Prahalada and Markandeya. So, be with the world, do your duties to your family. But hold on to God as your Only Relation, in any relationship you want. And He can play any role to perfection, because God is nobody, He is nothing, and yet He is everything and everyone. If you can hold on to Him totally, then He will serve you through all your births in any relationship you seek from Him. That will become your route to salvation, because you now have the best Friend in deed too! Love your worldly family, but do not get attached. Attachment will weave a web of illusion around you and cast you deep into the net of more attachments. You must not forsake your relations; you must fulfill your responsibilities to them, without getting attached. If you have a sister, recollect Arunagirinathar’s sister who paved way for his enlightenment. So, think of your sister as a form of God and serve her as you would serve God. When you see your child, recollect how Lord Siva manifested Himself as Pattinathar’s son and freed the merchant from his greed for wealth. And so, serve your child as you would serve the Lord. It was ThiruNeelakandar’s wife who led him to enlightenment. It was Karaikal Ammaiyar’s husband who led her to enlightenment. So think of your spouse as a form of God, and serve as you will serve God. When you learn to think of each one of your relations, be it parents or spouse or children or anyone, as a form of God and serve them as you will serve God, then you have gone beyond attachment and are in the threshold of Love. What you need to understand is that, all the worldly relationships that you have acquired through the consequences of all your past and present karmas, are strategies that God has devised to lead you unto Himself. It is upto you to use them as a spiritual ladder to step up to God, or as a net of illusions to get entangled further. It is not enough to express love to human beings. Love treats all creations of God with equal care. That is the real expansion of Love. But is that easy? Some persons like dogs, some like cats; but because they like to have pets, can they annoy others with these? Your love for something cannot become a disturbance to the peace of others. Just because I say ‘be loving to all creations’ does not imply that you stock your residence with pets and land up being a source of irritation to your neighbors. Regardless of whether you like other living things or not, refrain from throwing stones at and hurting animals and birds and trees. Then you have learnt to love. You will be able to love all beings when you understand God's Omnipresence. Then, when you see a crow, you will have fond memories of Lord Krishna or Saturn, the peacock brings Lord Muruga to your mind, the swan represents Goddess Saraswathi, the blossomed pink lotus Goddess Mahalakshmi etc. That way, you will be in constant touch with Divinity through these myriad manifestations. This does not happen overnight. And this will not happen just by hearing my discourses. Presently your priorities are different; you are apparently busy seeking luxuries, wealth, name, fame and pleasures of the senses. Once you understand that these pleasures that the mind is busy chasing are actually transient in nature, you will gradually get in touch with your own nature that is Love. Does anyone bring cows to their bedroom and allow it sleeping space on their beds? Or does anyone seat horses in their car taking them around the city on a sightseeing tour? Whereas, dogs neither give milk nor draw carts. But they are taken around in cars, petted and fussed over, and have their space in the bedroom and even at the dining table. Whether the owner goes walking or not, he would definitely walk the dog! Have you wondered why all this attention to the dogs? When the owner walks in from his daily work outside, the dog runs to meet him, barking in delight, follows him around the house, its tail wagging in expression of joy. It knows to express its love in its every movement. That gets reciprocated.Likewise you too must be capable of expressing love for God. It is not enough to feel love; learn to express it. That gets reciprocated to you as God's Special Compassion. Become God's pet by knowing how to express your love, your loyalty. Then God too will have you with Him always. Intellect is no different from Love. Intellect is expression of Love in its highest stage. The day you look on the sufferings of the world as your own, and start caring for everyone the way you will care for yourself, you will attain bliss. Bliss, Love, Intellect -- all these are manifestations of Divinity - Love Baba Chat & be Happy “ shankaram Siva shankaram†Maha Get an email ID as yourname or yourname.
