Shankaram Shiva Shankaram

Enlightenment means a man who has experienced something that you are also capable of, but you have not tried it. He is full of light, full of joy, full of ecstasy, twenty four hours a day. He is almost a drunkard, drunk with the divine. His life is a song, his life is a dance, his life is a rejoicing. HIS PRESENCE IS A BLESSING.

And if you want to know him, you have to be with him. You cannot watch from the outside, you have to come close. You have to come in a state of intimacy. You have to join his caravan; you have to hold his hand. You have to feed on him, and you have to allow, to let him enter your heart.

But from the outside, please don't try to find any characteristic, these are all inner experiences. But some indications can always be given. In the proximity of the enlightened being, you will feel A certain magnetic force, A tremendous attraction, A charismatic center.

Out of your fear, you may not come close. It is dangerous to come close to an enlightened man, because you can come close, but then you cannot go away. Coming close is risky. It is only for gamblers, not for businessmen!

In Samratchana, we have a "Hug Culture" that is not present in any other Spiritual centre. We have a concept called ‘embrace’. This is not with a person who has a bodily inhibition. You would notice it with a little observation. This particular exhibition of love is available not to a stranger and not even to a person who has been with Samratchana for years unless he/she has

a) Come out of the bodily inhibition

b) Pleased me with his/her service for which I have dedicated my whole life.

You should have rendered service in some way for the divine cause for which I have sacrificed my life. Secondly, you should have transcended your body. That is to say, you should go beyond! You should accept this as the hug of Shiva or as the hug of Krishna or as the hug of Rama. That is the meetness expected. It would not come to you in a day. It will come over the years by training your mind, taming your mind. Only one who has transcended the body will be able to receive this hug from Me. This is not the bodily hug that you see in the worldly context. I am making you understand this. Have you seen how the mother bird embraces its nestlings under the shelter of its wings? This hug is of that nature. It will give an enormous feeling of security. You will get a feeling that you are in safe

hands. The ‘secured feeling’ that is experienced by a weeping child when its mother lifts it up and holds it against her shoulder. It is difficult to explain this. You will be able to understand this language once you experience it.

In Tamil literature, there is a composition called, ‘Muththolaayiram’. In one of the verses in ‘Muththolaayiram’, a natural scenery is described beautifully. “Bunches and bunches of red lilies in a lake, gently unfold their petals revealing their luminous luster. From a distance, the brilliance of the red water lily blossoms creates the appearance that something in the water has caught fire. Fearing the fire, the mother bird embraces its nestlings under its protective wings to shield its little ones from the calamity.â€

This is what is happening in Samratchana to the younger generation. But not to all! I am once again telling you! Only to people who have understood me, who had been with me and who can understand as to what it is! It is one type of endearment, affection, rather the attitude, ‘You and I are not different’ or my way of saying, ‘I thank you!’ or ‘I love you!’

This has happened in Ramayana too. In the Ramayana, after his coronation and distribution of rewards to every one, Rama calls Anjeneya and asks him what he needs from Rama. Anjeneya replies, “I want nothing Rama, only You!†Rama was elated on hearing this. Vibishna asked for the throne; others asked for diamonds, pearls necklaces and so on whereas, Anjeneya, despite his exemplary performance, was unassuming and seated modestly. And even after Rama asking Anjeneya explicitly what he wanted, he says, “I want nothing. All I want is only You, Rama!†In an expression of ecstatic love all Rama gave Hanuman during his Pattabhishekam (coronation) was a “hugâ€. Nothing else! Just an embrace. Poet Kamban describes this scene as “Tempered to offer myself unto Youâ€. The reason

being, it is Rama who is within Anjeneya too! Therefore, he is also Rama. What happened during the hug? He gives himself.

The most rarest and precious thing in this world that I have with me is My self. Siva Shankar Baba has a watch with him. When it gets worn out, another will replace it. But when Siva Shankar Baba goes another Siva Shankar Baba cannot come, isn’t it? That is what you have to understand. Therefore, the highest thing a person can offer to someone is his own self. Ponder over this and you will be able to perceive it. Because He is everything. If let us say, I present you a watch. It is still just a speck from Me. Then, how elevated is the act of presenting my whole self unto you, isn’t it? This hug has a meaning like that. If it were artificial, Baba would not accept it. You should have performed to that extent over the years. You should have exhibited that love in each of your

activities.

Therefore, several of the concepts that are operational in Samratchana today have a deep, inner meaning to it. I have a philosophy, a model, modus operandi, in every minute act. It is not easy for people to perceive all this. It would suffice if those who need to understand it have understood. I am not anxious about those who have not understood this. Why because, worst case, they are going to get suspicious and stop coming here from the next day.

In other words, if at an ordinary human level if a person cannot trust me, when is he ever going to realize that I am Divine? He is not even willing to accept me as a Good man. Reflect over this. Why should I waste my time over some one who cannot even apprehend that I am a good person and that no harm can come to anyone because of me? If he is not willing to accept and conceive that Siva Shankar Baba is a good man, when is he going to realize that I am God himself? If he cannot even believe that ‘Siva Shankar Baba is a good man’, when is he ever going to accept that I am a good Mahaan (Saint) or a good Spirit? So I don't have time to waste with such persons.

Therefore, this culture can be even considered as a tool to dissuade such people. I use this mechanism to prevent people with such outlook from analyzing this and wasting their time as well as mine.

“Which of these miracles can I reveal…†goes a song in Samratchana where a series of miracles is enlisted. All those are not big wonders. The real miracle is giving a ray of hope to a soul that has floundered and is stumbling for the next step in his life, having reached a dead end. That is the biggest miracle in the world, is it not? Can anything else be comparable to this -- To be able to raise a crestfallen, frustrated soul who has no way in life, to give him hope and make him stand up as a man again.
