Guest guest
Dear all, How are you? Hope all is well at your end !!! Well, yesterday, 24-Aug-09 was " Samvatsari " day in the calendar of Jainism. It is considered as the most important, holy and pious day of a year and Jain people do prayer on this day to ask for the forgiveness for anything they did to hurt anyone by means of thoughts, words, acts or deeds. " Micchami Dukkadam " - By uttering this phrase, I seek forgiveness from all the creatures of the world whom, I may have harmed knowingly or unknowingly. So concept behind saying or writing someone " Michchhami Dukkadam " is that if I have done any harm to you then those bad deeds to be forgiven (be fruitless). The following is the small prayer we say esp. on this day: " KHAMEMI SAVVE JIVE, " - I forgive (from the bottom of my heart without any reservation) all living beings (who may have caused me any pain and suffering either in this life or previous lives), " SAVVE JIVA KHAMANTU ME " - and I beg (again from the bottom of my heart without any reservation) for the forgiveness from all living beings (no matter how small or big to whom I may have caused pain and suffering in this life or previous lives, knowingly or unknowingly, mentally, verbally or physically, or if I have asked or encouraged someone else to carry out such activities). " METTI ME SAVVE BHUYESU, " - (Let all creatures know that) I have a friendship with everybody, " VERAM MAJAHAM N KENAI " - and I have no revenge (animosity or enmity) toward anybody. So finally, I say " Micchami Dukkadam " to all, as I seek for your forgiveness and pardon me for my ignorance.
