Guest guest
Shankaram Shiva Shankaram Love is not a wrong thing, attachment is wrong. Love is good. Love is divine. Attachment will lead you to further complications. For instance take me as an example; my concept of love is vast. Take any family at random. I am closely related to every one of them. In fact I make them believe that I am closer to them than any. If I am able to achieve this, you too can. Now you are not able to, because you have got yourself entangled in small circles. You are not able to expand further. Unless you give, you do not get. This is what you should know. If one throws a stone into a pond, ripples form. The ripples travel first to the circumference and come back to the centre. First throw the stone called love in the hearts of people and do not expect returns. If not today, tomorrow you will receive. If it is a small pond, you will receive soon and if it is a big pond it will take time. So if someone starts loving you after long, then think that it is a great Atma. Tiruvalluvar says, ‘All of a sudden if someone comes closer to you they are like sugarcane. If someone takes his or her own time to understand you and then shows affinity, those are the lasting friendships.’ The friendship should deepen as days pass by, then it will last. If it is deep in the beginning and slowly its fervour decreases, then it is not friendship. This is his definition. Love and hatred come to us depending on what we have given. Not many have understood this. If we sow love, we reap love. If we sow hatred, we reap hatred. When you register a negative thought towards your spouse or children or friend or manager, that is what reflects from them to you. So you must learn to love even those who display hatred towards you or overpower you with anger. You should never hate anyone; you should never get irritated or annoyed with anyone. Then, if not today, tomorrow, the reflections of your positive thoughts will shine on you. In this world, adamant nature and unwanted arguments cause ego clash and this is the most common reason for all the problems. Many families have lost peace because of ego problems; there will be no other reason. Unless one uses both the palms one cannot clap. A fight does not arise without the involvement of both. There can be problems raised over the smallest issue. The only solution for all these problems is that one of them should give way to the other. This quality will arise in the way I tell you: even if it is a wrong thing done, only at that moment it may seem wrong. When you think over it with a balanced mind, you will find that everything has a justification. Even a murderer has a reason for committing murder. Otherwise why will he murder? Every man in this world thinks he is right. So what is it that you are achieving by trying to correct a person who does not realize that he is wrong? If you explain someone’s mistake to him or you yourself try to correct his mistake, his hatred towards you will increase. Try explaining to him but never enter into an argument and spoil your friendship. If he has to learn the hard way, let him undergo the repercussions of his actions. You tell a child not to touch the lamp. If it still touches, it will burn its finger and then will never touch fire again. It is your duty to tell and then leave it at that. Do not try to correct people. As Jesus says, ‘Judge not for ye not be judged’. Do not try to suppress any thoughts. Sit silently for half an hour and keep watching your thoughts, without attempting to change them. Let them be vulgar; let them be angry; let them be hateful; let them be sinful according to you. Just allow them to flow. At some point of time, your mind will become calm. It is all training the mind to be tame by allowing it to wander so that it exhausts itself of all thoughts. Then nothing can disturb you. You will remain placid amidst the mad rush of this world. It is the projection of the mind that flashes objects on the screen. Once you switch off the projector, you do not see anything on the screen. The same is true of life too. Switch off your mind and become blank, you will transcend thoughts. Who decided the karma? We decided the karma. So, the options are always there. We ourselves know what actions yield what type of results. If someone decides to knowingly fall into a pit, there is no blaming anyone else afterwards. He had the option to fall into the ditch or circumvent it. Knowingly he fell into the ditch. So, he cannot blame any one for that. No one has decided the karma for him. He decided the karma for himself.
