Guest guest
Shankaram shiva Shankaram How do you expect something in this transient world to be everlasting? No one entertains a liking for anyone. No one hates anyone. If it suits a person, he will call someone a good person. If it does not suit him, he will call him a bad person. You go on some business. You will tap at some office door and ask for permission, ‘May I come in?’ You introduce yourself to that person you are meeting. His immediate response will be ‘Glad to meet you’. How can a person become glad at meeting you at the first instance, when he does not know anything about you? It is a farce, isn’t it? Neither are you ‘glad’ to meet him, nor is he ‘glad’ to meet you. It is just a polite conversation you are striking. Everything you do is pretence. There is no true love. Invest all your love on God. Place yourself at His Lotus Feet, looking upon Him as your only relation, as all the relationships that you want. Surrender to Him and you will find solutions to all your problems. Trust in God; He is the Friend who will be with you all through life Even if you cannot do good, refrain from doing bad’. Those who seek God’s Grace, must desist seeing bad, doing bad, and thinking bad. There are several such instances - - Meera looked upon God as her Lover, as her Husband. And therefore she is remembered even today. Andal, because of her exemplary Love for God, has gained a sanctum near Him in every temple dedicated to the Lord. Such are the insights instilled in us by the story of Prahalada and Markandeya. So, be with the world, do your duties to your family. But hold on to God as your Only Relation, in any relationship you want. And He can play any role to perfection, because God is nobody, He is nothing, and yet He is everything and everyone. If you can hold on to Him totally, then He will serve you through all your births in any relationship you seek from Him. That will become your route to salvation, because you now have the best Friend in deed too! Love your worldly family, but do not get attached. Attachment will weave a web of illusion around you and cast you deep into the net of more attachments. You must not forsake your relations; you must fulfill your responsibilities to them, without getting attached. If you have a sister, recollect Arunagirinathar’s sister who paved way for his enlightenment. So, think of your sister as a form of God and serve her as you would serve God. When you see your child, recollect how Lord Siva manifested Himself as Pattinathar’s son and freed the merchant from his greed for wealth. And so, serve your child as you would serve the Lord. It was ThiruNeelakandar’s wife who led him to enlightenment. It was Karaikal Ammaiyar’s husband who led her to enlightenment. So think of your spouse as a form of God, and serve as you will serve God. When you learn to think of each one of your relations, be it parents or spouse or children or anyone, as a form of God and serve them as you will serve God, then you have gone beyond attachment and are in the threshold of Love. What you need to understand is that, all the worldly relationships that you have acquired through the consequences of all your past and present karmas, are strategies that God has devised to lead you unto Himself. It is upto you to use them as a spiritual ladder to step up to God, or as a net of illusions to get entangled further.
