A poverty stricken person went to king and implored him for food because he was hungry. The king took him to his palace backyard, showed the numerous elephants that were tied there and said “ i will give these to you. Take themâ€. The person himself was poor. How would he feed the elephants?.

Arjuna faced a similar problem. He was asking Krishna a lot of questions. Krishna decided to give one reply for everything and so, he revealed his cosmic form. Seeing the immense stature of lord, Arjuna did not know what to do. So he started circumambulating Krishna, and in the meantime Krishna left.

Similarly the poor person told the king that he would be unable to take care of the elephants and left as empty handed as he had come.

If god comes in the form of an elephant, you will find it very difficult to accept him. You neither have capacity nor the qualities to accept god that way. So out of his overflowing love and magnanimity of compassion, God comes in forms acceptable to humanity.

If an elephant wants, it can swirl man and crush him into pieces with its leg. But it itself hands over the chain using which it is tied up. If you hold a small stick in hand, it pulls and drags huge trees. And to add to all this, it bends down obediently till you seat yourself on it.

So also God out of his flowing mercy , comes down from his immeasurable heights to accept our prayers. He bends down from his position to accept us, to lift us to him.

What can one do if the elephant kills man? If it obeys its master’s commands, it is because of love. Man gives it food to eat and water to drink, it responds to that love. Similarly God ties himself willingly with the cords of our love for him. God who pervades the entire universe, and is everything in this universe, converts small offering also into huge ones. If God acknowledges the wee little things that we do, it is only because he yearns for our love, He submits to our Love.

When god appeared in front of Periazhwar with his Srivelli, Periazhwar felt bad that God had become thin. It requires such bountiful love to think that god has gone down. That is possible only when you think of God as life form, as a force with Life. God does everything for everyone. Has anyone asked God whether he has eaten? If someone ask God that, He gets Thrilled. No one cares to ask him that. Godfeels happy when someone expresses such care for Him. But no one seems to bother. When someone asks, God’s love automatically surges forth. Only thoughts for life. God is nothing. God is nobody. You can see him as anything. You can perceive him in whatever way you want. when you reach across to him in love, He acknowledges and responds.

There have been so many Mahaans in this world. Mahaans attained God’s Lotus feet by singing His glory infact a number of them were dumb and got power of speech only by the grace of Ambal.

Why did Murgha convert a person known for his furious nature into sublime Arunagirinatha whose only task became singing the praise of the Lord? Why did Lord Shiva conquer Sundaramoorthy Nayanar’s heart and instructed him to sing of Him even addressing Him as “ Pittaâ€. Why did ambal serve food to Vallal Peruman when he was hungry and that too in the guise of his sister- in – law why should the water in the temple vanish on Guru Namasivaya’s route to Chidambaram when her was hungry and thirsty? And why after that, did Ambal serve him food in the form of Unnamalai Amman.

What these incidents reveal is that whoever showered wholesome love on the Lord was treated on the Lord was treated specially? God kept a constant vigil over their every activity and walked their way for them. When Apparswamy was walking hungrily through the forest, Lord Shiva himself created a garden laden with trees, served him food and desert and water to drink. Even now this incident is celebrated in grand way there.

You derive joy from giving betel leaves and nuts to your child asking it to put in your mouth. It is you who mix these in proper proportion. But there is happiness in getting it from your child’s hand so it is with God. When you pray to him because of His Grace, he derives enjoyment. If we understand this, we will know the essence of Love, you do appreciate how blissful and emotional Love is.

The bliss that glorification of God gives is generated in the same way by thinking of Him as an object with life and caressing the cuddling Him. God is a life force with vibrant life energy running through Him. What he expects from you is Love rather than respect or worldly affection. He yearns and pines for you love.

How happy will old parents feel when children take care of them with love! Small things like getting dresses, or buying chappls for them add brightness to their old age life just their child is expressing his care for them. It is a big thing for ht parent. God is creator, protector ad destroyer of the cosmos. But he solicits only your love. It is only through love that you can captive him. He is very much with you even if he like the mighty, massive elephant, He bears you on his back and submits to everything that you do in fond hope that you will become capable of expressing Love. He is ready to undergo anything for the sake of love and looks forward to an ongoing relationship flooded with the bliss that only love can

bring.

There was a merchant in Maharastra who was notorious because of his miserliness. Panduranga went to him in disguise as a beggar but the merchant turned him out. When the lord went t beg of the merchant’s wife, she gave ornaments to him. God took it back to the merchant and asked him to give money for the jewel. Suspecting the ornaments to be his Wife’s the merchant had Panduranga wait and went to check out on the ornament. But the jewels were very much in his house – Paduranga had kept a similar one in its place. That is how God responds to love shown to him.

Karaikkal ammaiyar served the mango fruit that had been given by God to her husband. On eating it, her husband asked for another one. Knowing not what to do, Karaikkal ammaiyar prayed to Lord Shiva abd God obliged by giving one more fruit. God is ready to be at your beck and call. But you should be able to intoxicate and bowl over God with your love.

So when you nurture and grow your love for god, you will benefit from such experiences, instead of asking what God has given you, raise your thought to the Lord. You will be able to bask in the warmth of God’s love then.
