Super Resistant " Superweeds " Add to GM Debate: News of the evolution of

" superweeds, " weeds resistant to the potent weedkillers genetically modified

crops were engineered to tolerate, takes away much of the justification for this

food production technology and contributes to the ongoing dispute over the

future of GM food crops.

 

The DOD Seeks Help From Supplements to Keep Troops Alert: The Department of

Defense is turning to natural alternatives to increase alertness and stamina in

soldiers. The DOD is working with researcher to see how nutritional supplements

could improve performance in troops.

 

Common Chemicals in Plastic May Harm Children: A new report warns that

children's health may be at stake if more research is not done to determine the

toxic effects of commonly used plastics in toys and medical tubing.

 

New York State Senate Set to Ban Ephedra: Last month, Illinois became the first

state to officially ban the sale of ephedra. Now, the New York Senate is

preparing to do the same thing.
