Dr. Mercola: Think Carefully About Getting a Tattoo or Body Piercing

Hi everyone,

 

I have heard to be especially careful about piercing the tongue and

belly button... The tongue because the metal jewelry will often hit

the teeth, and sometimes even chip the teeth. That is straight

forward enough, the belly button is a little more subtle.

 

Acupuncturists greatly respect the belly button area and consider it

a sacred connection with our ancestors. For this reason I have

heard acupuncturists will NOT needle this area... Now imagine a

small, thin needle inserted ever so slightly for just a little bit

of time, and compare that with a comparatively huge piece of metal

jewelry that is left in for who knows how long...

 

Are there any acupuncturists out there to confirm this?

I have also heard - about piercing the tongue - that if the hole gets

put in the wrong place, that you will drool forever and you can not stop

it.
