Guest guest
Hi Carol... I am so glad you asked this question... Because through the process of trying to answer it, I realized I may have been doing a mis- service to homeopathy... On one hand, I want to give out names of homeopathic remedies, so that people know there are solutions, and to give them the opportunity to look up these remedies in a materia medica, so they can learn more about them... There are even on-line materia medicas, so everyone can access them... The down side is that each remedy could easily have volumes written about it, with such great detail, that a lay person may feel overwhelmed or disheartened... Then if the remedy is taken just to be taken, without any further context of the general and specific state of health of the person indicated, the remedy may not be the right remedy at all- resulting in minimual to no improvement, and then one says, " homeopathy does not work " . So at this point not only is the remedy important, but perhaps even more importantly is the process to monitor the results of the remedy... It is like a fine instrument that occasionally needs tuning... With most everyother form of alternative health supplement that I am aware of, one takes the supplement, ad infinium, or until they decide it isn't working, at which point they stop... Never is it encouraged to actually monitor the results, and tune the instrument as necessary... Homeopathy is all in the details... Not only of the specific condition, but of the rest of the ailments that can not and should not be separated out from the condition that is being improperly singled out for attention... But the details do not stop there, once a remedy or remedies have been indicated what are the results? Say for example that the pain shifts in nature, quality or location, a completely different remedy would then be required to work in that unfolding territory... I am sure most of us have heard about the peeling back of the layers of an onion, well as we do that, remedies have to be chosen from what is presenting in each individual layer, in order to have a fuller resolution... And if that is not done, then again, people will walk away and say, homeopathy did not work for them... Truely a diservice to homeopathy if I provoke that feeling in someone from my lack of explaining how homeopathy needs to be done... So to do homeopathy properly, means to do monitoring that by far requires a greater commitment than " what product do you have for arthritis? " If you do wish to follow through homeopathically with your mom's arthritis, please contact me privately and I will be glad to do so... That being said, I don't want to be perceived as being closed to the group and unwilling to share what information I do know... If there is not the commitment to follow this through with the proper monitoring, I suggest bryonia and arnica as most likely to help the most without having the proper information to make a fully informed choice... And the best I can offer, is if you reach a limitation with those remedies, it is not a limitation in homeopathy, but the remedies are no longer being applied to their proper territory, and it is necessary to go back, evaluate the symtpoms and re-choose according to what is presenting at that moment... Guest guest
Misty, I appreciate your explanation of this. And now I realize that my mother would not be a candidate for homeopathic remedies if they need to be monitored, because every time she tries something different, whether it be drugs or something natural, I will ask her if xyz product helps her, and the answer I ALWAYS get is " well, I don't know " . It's really tough to help somebody like this. She is not able to share what she is feeling. I may get the bryonia and arnica that you mentioned and see if I can get her to agree to giving those a try. Thanks Misty, Carol Misty L. Trepke [mistytrepke] Hi Carol...
