With trichotillomania, she pulls out her hair due to the stress that she encounters (school, peer pressure, etc.). Her doctor suggests that medication may be an option. I don't know about you but the anti depressant medications (Prozac, etc.) scare the hell out of me! From what I've been researching, it seems the medication does not help and sometimes the symptoms can worsen. I have been researching some natural alternatives that have been used with people who have trichotillomania, but I really don't know much about them. I have found four natural ways: 1) Marjoram leaves 2) Kava Kava 3) Chamomile tea 4) Natracalm. I have read that Kava Kava should only be taken by people who are 18 and up. I have also read where some people have found Natracalm to be a very effective natural way to relieve the stress. Any further input would be greatly appreiated. Thank you, Dave I would recommend that you only try one thing at a time, so that if she reacts, you will know what did it. Be very careful, even with natural substances, because people can react to them, and you want to be especially careful with children. Personally, I would use energy technology, and have her sleep on a magnetic mattress, and also use FIR. They have been shown to be very relaxing, and also help encourage sound sleep. I use then for fibromyalgia.
