MRSA is an antibiotic resistant staph bacteria. It's very common in hospitals,

nursing homes, places where there are tons of antibiotics & people. It's

usually passed from another patient or staff member. Yes, you can wash your

hands, do everything right & still pass it along. There are nasty antibiotics

that can kill it if it is found quick enough. The antibiotic is probably

causing the diarrehea, not the MRSA. It can become a part of her general flora,

but when she is immunocompromised, it can make her sick.

Viruses are not bacterias. If you are infected with a virus you should NOT be

taking an antibiotic because most likely all the antibiotic will do is kill the

competing bacteria & help the virus multiply.

Your mom needs to replace her intestinal flora, so you might want to get some

acidolphilus & lactobacillus for her to take. That might help boost her immune

system, too. Good luck!

Does anyone know about the MRSA? My mother(71)had a very traumatic

experience in the hospital ... so bad she refuses to ever be admitted

again for ANY reason. On top of this, she was pretty ill with some

virus or something while there recovering from surgery. They said she

got it from the antibiotics she was being given, but they never did
