Guest guest
Right you are - stevia is an herb with antioxidant and other positive health qualities, yet no known health problems other than the fact that it posed a huge threat to the artificial sweetener industry and so they lobbied their pals in congress to first ban it and then reluctantly allowed it to be marketed provided that it was prohibited from using the term " sweetener " in it's advertising or labeling (which explains why you see the term " don't sweeten it, supplement it " on the packaging and advertising. ALL artificial sweeteners are patently dangerous to your health, perhaps none worse than Aspartame but there are NO good ones. Period. All one has to do is google " dangers of ______ " and put in the name of the artificial sweetener in the blank and see what I am talking about in the many, many results you get. Another herb that is used for sweetening is Lo Han (seomtimes referred to as Lo Huang). It tastes better than Stevia (it tastes like sugar), does not have the aftertaste some find a bit unpleasant with Stevia, and is harder to find and more expensive. I have been using stevia in the raw form since the late 1980's and more recently the liquid and powdered extracts as well as the fresh herb with absolutely no negative > effects. zoe >
