Guest guest
Hi all I have an unsatisfactory situation with my drinking water. My original plan was to improve the situation, but its not improving so I thought some people here could help me out. I live in a small city, and the water is somewhat hard. I was using a coffeemaker to heat my water but I get mineral buildup. My next step was to get Culligan water. I thought this worked for several weeks until one day I looked in my water crock that the bottle sits on and there was a blue residue in the water. I tried making a filter out of piece of cloth but wasn't confident in it, so I went back to the coffeemaker. At first I thought it was caused by the blue washer that holds the spout but on examination I couldn't see where it was deteriorating. Right now I am trying to determine if the residue could be flouride, so I called Culligan and asked them if they have flouride in their water. At first they said they did, then when I asked them if it was possible to get water without flouride in it they said that their reverse osmosis system takes the flouride out. Next I called the city and they said that they use one part per million. I asked them why and they said because that was recommended by the Department Of Environmental Quality. He asked me if their was a problem, and I said that flouride wasn't good for you. So I asked for the number for DEQ and got an answering machine. So at this point it looks like I am going to have to change a government policy to get water without flouride in it, because Culligan probably gets its water from the city too. So if anyone has any suggestions on how I should proceed I would appreciate it. Also, I heard recently that lemon can purify water. Does anyone have any information in that regard? Also, how does the hardness or softness of water affect a person's health? Thank you for your time and help. Michael
