Guest guest
Reinventing the wheel - Semmelweiss must be spinning in his grave! DS is suffering brain injury, but it seems he knows more about hygiene than trained hospital staff.Had an argument with a dr when DS cut his hand. I would usually avoid ER & use steri strips but the cut was deep & on the side of the hand between little finger and wrist - hard to heal because of movement. Dr wanted to use abx. No way! We argued the toss and he scrawled "Mother refuses abx!" across the top of the page! When it came time for removal of sutures, there was infection - a tiny encapsulated bubble of pus round each little suture hole! The wound itself was perfectly clean, which illustrated that my glass tumbler (a broken one on which DS had cut himself) was cleaner than the sterilised "catgut"! Soooo glad that the same dr was there to remove the sutures. Usually remove them myself but (a bit mean, really) I wanted to gently rub dr's nose in it. I would have dearly loved to complete the hospital notes myself!--- On Wed, 2/18/09, JdB <jackdaw123 wrote:JdB <jackdaw123 Re:Good news on MRSAoleander soup Date: Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 2:58 AM Fantastic! It appears that they discovered that keeping their hands clean and sterilizing equipment would actually reduce infections. Wow! Whoever discovered that should win the Nobel Prize. Guest guest
DS2's co distributes silver dressings! Also manuka honey dressings.20 years ago we hadn't even heard of silver. I do remember my mother rubbing her wedding ring on a stye on her eyelid! --- On Wed, 2/18/09, Tony wrote:Tony Re:Good news on MRSAoleander soup Date: Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 6:52 PM Interesting sidenote: hospitals that make extensive use of silver, such as in airducts and filters, surfaces, silver sprays and even silver threads woven into the hospital pj's have virtually no incidence of MRSA.
