Guest guest
I also suffer extreme vaginal dryness and am taking a form of HRT for it which does work -- my doctor says I had no detectable estrogen. If progesterone alone would work that would be great - what kind and how much do you take? Namaste, Liz

I've always heard when a woman is pregnant the progesterone levels are very high and drop dramatically after giving birth which can also lead to depression. Painful intercourse can be a result of vaginal dryness which progesterone will correct. The dryness can also be caused by candida. Or at least that's what I've heard. More problems are caused by being estrogen dominant. I am 51 and since being on the progesterone cream, I have no vaginal dryness. I use to take an estrogen perscription but have come off it. For me, the progesterone seems to be much more effective than the estrogen. I realize everybody is different. Was just curious as to how you came to the conclusion you were lacking estrogen and not progesterone since a lack of progesterone can also cause the dryness, if that was even you problem. Sincerely, Gail

Guest guest
Sounds like you might be suffering from hypothyroidism -- go to a good endrocrinologist. Liz

Directions are apply 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. twice daily, 3 weeks on, 1 week off. When I first went on it that was how much I took. However, I was so lacking in it that I could not go the 1 week off. As time went by, and my system was build up with it, I could take the week off. Now I don't even need the recommended amount. I only use around 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. once a day for 3 weeks and take a week off. I had to wean myself off the estrogen perscription, but I'm happy to say I'm drug free. Guest guest
Hi Gail When I went on progesterone, my candida went berserk! I also swelled up " underneath " and my periods became irregular, when they never had been. I tried 3 kinds, and just kept getting worse with each one. My girlfriend tried it, and was great for awhile, but then she started getting hot flashes, and her heavy bleeding came back as well. So we haven't got very good things to report. I know of another person as well, whom it worked for for awhile, then she started having bleeding problems as well. Doctors here recommend that you have breaks from it, and NOT use the dermal from of Progesterone, but tablets. Again , different from Dr lee. What do you think? What do you think? *********************************************************** My reply: I have been on a progesterone cream for aproximately 6 years....I was estrogen dominant during my reproduction years and unfortunately had an early hystorectomy (sp)....about 45 years old....I also went through the vaginal dryness and tried many different lubricants until coming across the progesterone cream which I use as a supplement by rubbing approximately 1/4 tsp into the soft tissue skin like my stomach and thighs and also use it for vaginal moisture and a little extra when needed during intercourse.....I have had no problems with this regimen. I also have natural lubricating moisture from time to time before/during intercourse which pleases me and my husband. On the subject of soy....I have taken many different soy products from all natural to OTC tablet and powders....I am highly allergic to these...when I was much younger I used the Shaklee brand soy protein powder for several years...now when I return to it or any other soy product I get very sleepy and a headache within 20 to 30 mins after ingesting. I can hardly stay awake!! I guess the bottom line of all this is that we are all made the same...and different....each of us has to experiment within reason to find what works for them. I hope this helps some of you ladies out there :-) Sheila
