OK, first you tried synthetic estrogen, you felt better but you got a funny lump and other side effects. Then you tried progesterone cream - it didn't help the vaginal pain, and it made your candida worse. Then you got some form of natural estrogen (I'm assuming) and now the candida is in control and vaginal pain is gone on top of that. > I am still undecided as to what to do, but I do know I lack Estrogen, NOT > Progesterone. Especially after I gave birth. I couldn't have sex until I > got my period again (sorry guys), and then the problem corrected itself > overnight. Because I lacked Estrogen, sex was VERY painful. I have heard > other women talk the same way. Hear, hear! Now, I'm not sure whether I was lacking in both progesterone and estrogen, or only progesterone. But, like you, from seemingly the very moment I got pregnant (BOTH times btw) I could NOT have sex until I had that postpartum period (which for my first child was 13 months postpartum, and for my currently 18 month old, I *still* don't have a period). My poor husband. But it wasn't until I started using progesterone cream consistently a couple months ago that the painful intercourse problem subsided. I was both overjoyed and outraged. Why don't more women know about this? Why don't we talk about problems like this so that we won't feel like giant freaks? Why did I have to think that I had a 2 year long yeast infection (which, btw, it *wasn't* a yeast infection, and I now know that!!)? And even worse, other side effects of painful intercourse, such as convincing myself that I secretly hated my husband, or else I wouldn't have such a hard time with him. Terrible, huh? I notice even better results if I add some phyto-estrogen pills to my vitamin regimen (such as increased desire and lubrication *cough* sorry guys!) but I'm so wigged out about the link between estrogen and cancer that I don't take them very often... I wish there was some definite say-so about how much estrogen is safe, etc. *sigh* -- Mindy ----------------------- " ...that they may be one...
