Guest guest
Hi all I'm an ex-Californian (fourth generation L.A.) and the one thing I do miss is the wealth of health food and herb stores. The health food stores are notorious for high prices. Look in the yellow pages for " Herbs " or even ask at the health food store if they know of a good herb store. They will carry a lot of tinctures, bulk herbs and anything else you want, and their prices are a lot lower. They will also (if they are truly good) be able to give you lots of advice. This will sound rather off the wall, but the intent of the maker is very important in the final product (tinctures, etc.). If their primary intent is to make money, the product will have less 'spiritual' or healing strength. If the primary intent is to help others and the simple joy of working with herbs, it will show through. As for Diabetes and sweets. One thing to do is eliminate the temptation. Don't keep sodas or sweets in the house. I'm not a diabetic but I am a chocoholic and the only way I can control it is to keep it out of here <grin>! I know there are many sugarless sweets out there and my neighbor, who is a diabetic, said some of these are really quite good now. But, he needs to make the decision to change. Maybe if you can help him by eliminating the temptations, it will get him to thinking. Certainly worth a try. Kit
