Guest guest
I do not feel the least bit zoned out on prozac -- I function exceptionally well -- for instance I am a graduate student (get straight As), run a household with three kids, write, read, learn and study everything under the sun and am considered by some 'the most intelligent person' they've ever met -- I've TRIED all kinds of alternatives for my depression and I still do use an assortment of alternative stuff in conjunction with the SSRI --- BUT, and its a large BUT, I decided that 'purity' was not worth the quality of life cost. Knock on wood -- but thus far I've had NO adverse reactions to prozac. Do I like taking meds - NO -- philosophically I'd love to find an alternative that actually worked for me -- remember, I have tried lots of other stuff and nothing worked either alone or synergistically. Is prozac for everyone-- NO -- but I do believe there are different causeways to depression -- we do not all arrive by the same route. In my case there appears to be little in the way of either a 'psychological' or 'situational' cause -- like I said -- hits more like a flu -- feels very chemical -- it runs in my family and I wouldn't doubt that the underlying cause may be a short supply of a few enzymes. Yes, a lot of meds are harmful, some are overused or poorly used, but some are a godsend if used judiciously and with proper diagnoses. Prozac is not for everyone suffering 'depression,' but it is for me. Namaste, Liz
Guest guest
Ditto! I am on Zolof and I am not reduced in any compassity. When first given a new dose or drug, it makes you slow down and a little dead minded for about 2 weeks, then it goes away.
