Guest guest
> But if you are taking more than 1 type of vitamin then surely they all add > together to provide the necessary protection??? As the article said: " There was improvement in mortality for those individuals that did take higher doses of antioxidants beyond what the typical multivitamin provided. " Multiple vitamins are usually formulated to meet the minimum requirement for a 'healthy' person. The RDA (recommended daily allowance) falls short of requirements for most people, keeping in mind poor eating habits, chemicals in food, reduced nutrition from long shelf life, preservatives and additives, depleted soil, destruction of nutrients in cooking and so on. Many people do not qualify as 'healthy' people and it has been found that higher doses of vitamins, antioxidants and minerals are needed. Certain vitamins, antioxidants and minerals are also needed by those with chronic health problems, as metabolism is often affected by ill health.
