Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Thanks for the wonderful information. Would you recommned the extract form? Pam Debra McDuffee <deb wrote: Hi Pam, Vitex is a wonderful herb for women who have PMS, infertility, low progesterone or any combination of them. It is supremely helpful if you have estrogen dominance, which means that your estrogen to progesterone raito is off. You can go to johnleemd.com to read more about estrogen dominance. It is also used in Chinese medicine as a liver tonic, probably b/c the liver is what processes excess estrogen and vitex helps balance the hromones so there isn't excess estrogen. It acts through your pituitary gland to help teach your body how to regulate your hormones on your own. It is a slow acting herb and is best used over a long period of time. If you are trying to conceive and you take it in your luteal phase, it helps your body raise progesterone levels so it is best to keep taking it throught the first trimester until your body is making enough progesterone on its own. You can take it all cycle if you have severe estrogen dominance, but just before ovulation is a good time to start. Let me know if you'd like any more info! Guest guest
Hi Pam, I think as long as you get a standardized form it will be fine. The only reason tinctures are recommended is that they absorb more directly and more quickly into your bloodstream, especially if you hold it under your tongue and let it absorb through your salivary glands. It's funny about herbs, b/c you can get a really low quality tincture that will not do for your body what a high quality capsule would.
