Hi all,

what a time to come down with the flu. Though how i got it i don't know. I

would have thought that with all the supplements, etc i am taking for the

fibromyalgia and arthritis, nothing would get through. <G>

Symptoms are, very sore throat (voice almost gone from coughing) achy all

over and a pounding headache. TIA.

Regards, Dorothy.

The only thing I know of is the old vitamin-c rule: Take it in amounts

that cause diarrhea and then back off the dosage until they slow down.

That is supposed to help.

Hi Dorothy! Do you have a Chinatown in your area? How about a Doctor

of Chinese Herbal Medicine? T.C.M. (Traditional ) has

had the cure for colds & flu for a very long time. Patent Medicines

(pills) are easiest to take: Gan Mao Ling, Banlangen Complex, Panlan,

are products I use. If you catch the illness in first few days, you can

kill the germ. If not, you can reduce your illness in time & severity,

significantly. There are other patent medicines to use, too, ask the

Herbal Pharmacist for help. You may wish to ask a T.C.M. Specialist for

help with your other health problems. I've found this system of

medicine very helpful, personally. Hope you recover soon! Steve

Feverfew is excellent for headaches; gargling with red sage and myrrh would

be great for sore throats...or just red sage if you don't have myrrh....lots

of fresh garlic, no deodorized capsules a day, plenty of vitamin C tablets or

lots of fresh souces, such as finely chopped orange peel in

capsules...echinacea tncture is super.....as is goldenseal or oregon grape

substitued for that....as are many others.... White Horehound for cough,

cayenne pepper to warm up blood vessels in throat for circulation and

healing....elecampane root....ginger.....elder flowers for

congestion..........many more. What are the other symptoms you have, if any?

Baths with Eucalyptus baths are great! A wonderful herbal vapor rub is

petroleum jelly ( I use beeswax and oils myself ) with echinacea, thyme, and

pine on the chest , throat, and under the nose.....

Here is an usual remedy. I just learned of it a month or so ago.

I tried it once so far & it seems to work. Put Hydrogen peroxide in your

ears. I dribbled the peroxide in one ear with my head tipped, let it sit

for 30 seconds or so. then rotated my head & did the other ear. Prior to

this I had felt a flue coming on. I work outside in winter so I have to be

careful not to overdo the vitamin C as I am not near a bathroom. I was

anticipating a few days of flue while my high (but not super high) vitamin C

plus Echinacea did its trick. But one dose of peroxide in my ears did the

trick overnight. The sooner one does the peroxide, the better chance of it

working.

Have heard this dosage is every hour, 500 to 1000 dosage....and if diarrhea

occurs, have heard to eat a little bit of chocolate and lie down shortly to

stop it....also, bananas and carob powder are pretty good to help bind

diarrrhea....It's not the bad diarrhea, from what I understand :) Avoid in

high doses if pregnant or have liver disease

Don't know of any of those here either.

I actually went to this guy for 40 treatments of accupuncture for the

fibromyalgia and arthritis, didn't really do much good.

I have also heard good things about it, from many people from different

Thank you, i hope so as well, especially with Christmas only 91/2 hrs away.

Thanks again.

Buy " food grade " hydrogen peroxide (35% strength!) at a chemical supply

outlet, and make your own. I add 1 tbs food-grade hp for each 5 & 1/3 ozs

of distilled water (I have a counter-top distiller), or approx. 3 tbs per

pint. Or you can use a little less or a little more to achieve the strength

you wish. I remember a researcher who was heavily involved in hy. perox.

therapy, advising that people make their own. I believe you have to buy it

by the gallon. Hydro.-Perox. at 35% strength will remain liquid in your

freezer, and last for years. I haven't calculated the cost of making a pint

of 3% in this manner, but I believe it's about 7 or 8 cents!

shops open and make it up, already have the beeswax.
