I hope someone writes to this list, concerning this issue. I can't state a lot of scientific fact. As you note above, I have read this hundreds, if not thousands of times over the years. Also, I have read that the incomplete proteins have to be eaten within 30 minutes of each other in order for the amino acids to complement each other. Supposedly, if even one essential amino acid is missing, the food will not be metabolized as protein. I have had my doubts as well. Now.... the proof...... if you could call it that. I study wildlife and plant nutrition as well as human nutrition. A number of years back I read a thesis by a wildlife biologist relative to deer feeding on food plots. Most all wildlife survive on incomplete proteins. I would think we can learn some lessons from them. This biologist spent several thousand hours watching food plots and documenting his observations. The average time that a deer spent on a food plot was 20 minutes. As soon as I read this, I was delighted that this enhances the " 30 minute " theory about ingesting incomplete proteins. It is the only reference I ever came across to this time interval. It could be coincidental, but I think not. Deer have a very good built in clock. I have observed deer over a 3 week period and their movement and location would be within minutes of the same time each day. Amazing. Almost forgot..... after meals that don't measure up, I always take an amino acid capsule. It may not help one bit, but it puts my mind at ease.
