Marianne,

I would consider one my Drs to be a top professional in our lg town, in a

specialty practice. He recently gave, what I feel, some very wrong

information which could be life threatening to me. His advice completely

flies in the face of recently written books by other Drs warning against his

same advice. My other Dr here in town told me to take a different path, one

that would be more in line with the books I read. Opposite opinions from the

same age Drs... What do I believe? What should I do? Those questions are

rhetorical as I know exactly what to do, take the safe, sensible, non

threatening route.

I have also seen info on ess. oils listed to be OK in cats. I do believe that

dogs have no issues with ess. oils if used safely/correctly for their size,

etc. I have also seen top practitioners warn vehemently to not use ess.oil

in cats. Had I not seen with my own eyes a cat die from tea tree oil, I would

certainly be confused with such contradictory information.

I think some breeds of cats are more sensitive than others, especially

purebreds. Just like some humans are more sensitive than others, although I

don't know any purebred humans... ; )

There are many ways to treat animals alternatively without bordering on such

an unresearched/unproven, word of mouth subject.

My thought would be, if this is so controversial, would you want to use your

cat as a guinea pig?

I personal will never have another pet - I really miss having a cat in the

house as I used to have 4 but I cannot cope with the heartache of losing them

any more and I hate the feelings of guilt that I suffer when I go out for the

day, go to work or go on holiday - yes I know I am far too sensitive but that

is me. However, the lady who wrote that response has been dealing with ess.

oils for the last 3 years, selling them and demonstrating their uses - she

has 4 *moggies* who are in very good health and I know that whenever I have

called on her she has oils burning in the home. There will always be

controversy about all of these subject and we must follow our own instincts

as you so rightly are with your own health. I would be very unsure of using

ess.oils around animals now as I am sure a lot of others are but then there

will be those who have done so for years and will continue to do so.

I fully understand not getting another pet. I know how hard it is to lose an

animal, as they become a family member and very close to your heart. As with

the essential oils, herbs, etc... I have been told you develop a sort of gut

instinct on what to take and not.
