I have a very good friend of 20 yrs who lives in NY. A few years ago she

told me her friend's father died of " brain complications " , he was 65. This

girls family were friends of the funeral director and had an autopsy done.

He told them in confidence that their husband/father had died of " Mad Cow " .

He also confided this was his third case in a few years. He would not reveal

this information to the public... not sure what his reason was but I could

guess.

The fellow that passed had not traveled abroad, led a regular life but did

like meat, esp. steaks and such. Now this small town had 3 people pass,

which was years ago, maybe a few more since then... how many other

small/large towns have this happening? We could be on the brink of an

epidemic and no one would know.

How many small cattle farms are still feeding animal carcasses due to

economic,convenience or other reasons?

Food for thought..

Terri

Mary,

In a nutshell a prion is a backward folded protien. As far as I know

nobody fully understands what is happening here. But research

indicates started from brain matter cannibalism, ie same species. The

prion is a self destructing protien which unfortunately is all too

willing to pass on the self destruct message. Prions do not

biodegrade as we know it. Prions must be heated to a temperature in

excess of 800 degrees F. to be destroyed. This same madcow disease is

also known as " scrapie " in sheep, " Chronic wasting " or CWD disease in

wildlife, and " Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease " in humans. You will hear

others claim that they are different but they are not, it is passed

from one species to the other quite easily.

Dear Andie,

Don't know about the "wild" meat.

I've eaten "organic" meats (sparingly) for years now, including "wild", and maintained excellent health.

This is a "new" area and as such the waters have not really been tested, so to speak. My gut reaction is that this is the latest scare tactic by the Medico/Psych/Pharmaceutical/cartel assisted by the Merchants of Chaos = the News Media. ;o)

Until there's a human case of MCD, I'm just not going to get my dander up. I'm still suffering from the Anthrax non-event ;o)

Love,

Doc

On the subject of the media and anthrax...I remember when the whole

Anthrax thing was just starting. The first man that got it was

initially reported to have contracted it from " drinking from a

stream " . That's right. The best the media could come up with was that

he got it from " drinking from a stream " . And this was just after the

whole Sep 11 thing. That's a pretty weak coverup, if you ask me. My

fiancee & I had read enough realistic bioterrorist fiction books to

know that anthrax can be a nice bioweapon. We just looked at each

other when the news came out with that and shook our heads and

said " uh-uh. Not buyin' it. "

Mad cow is created by feeding herbivores animal proteins. The people who use this practice should be lined up and shot.

And this is from someone who is against capital punishment.

To artificially add more protein to the anima....sort of like the trick they pulled in China that poisoned our cats and dogs.See what's free at AOL.com.

That is horrible. Why would they do that? I can relate to stating people should be shot. I too am against the death penalty and thought that the person that dropped off the last dog I picked up at the gas station should be shot.

In east Texas this would only happen if a cow jumped the fence into the pig pen! The bovine stomach is designed to handle vegetation efficiently, not meats. Why anyone would give a cow animal protein is beyond me. Cattlemen have used sex hormones and growth hormone to increase the poundage of livestock. Though that meat is something I'd rather not eat, it is a safer choice for growers than feeding cows animal protein. "Now Johnny, that's a cow, and that's a pig; make sure you know the difference. They take different feed and management!" Please, please,

please bring back kosher livestock! Dr. Goebel
