That makes me remember how during my wife's first pregnancy she suffered a lot from constant nausea and vomiting. I had been using Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap for years. But somehow she came to associate the smell of peppermint with her nausea and for years and years afterward, felt nauseous at the smell of peppermint. I had to switch to Dr. Bronner's Almond Soap. Anyway, I think she might be finally getting used to peppermint again, little by little. But I am still careful and use lavender EO to allay nausea. It just goes to show how powerful an effect aroma has on our brains and our lives. Scientists have a name for this well-known phenomenon (forgot what they call it), where you get sick once and ever after feel nauseated by something that was only coincidental to the sickness. It would have a protective effect, by keeping you away from stuff that really did make you sick -- but sometimes there's no causal connection . . . unfair as that may seem.
