Guest guest
Hi Kim How exciting! I will send you privately some info from my forthcoming book - I am just having the illustrations done now, and there's a beautiful one of a baby being massaged. Babies shouldn't have essential oils used on them until they're three months old - but you can vapourise them in the room to aid sleep and create a nice aroma, and you can start massaging straight away. A colleague told me recently that from her own experience, grapeseed oil is better than almond oil, because using a lot of almond at the beginning might cause a nut allergy. I don't know if there's any truth in this, but it could be worth bearing in mind. Once the baby is over three months, you can start introducing essential oils like camomile, lavender, mandarin (or tangerine) and rose otto (if you want to use it on one so young!), ie the very gentle ones. Use just one drop per bath or massage. A good carrier for a bath is fresh milk as the essential oil dissolves fairly well in it, before adding the milk to the water. Are you going to use essential oils during labour? Clary sage and jasmine are a good combination. Keep us posted. Helen in Cape Town " Kim Ayers " <DarklingMuse Baby Massage Hello All- I was wondering if anyone has done any baby massage with essential oils and has some recipes to share? Or can you recommend a good book that deals specifically with baby massage? I'm due at the end of May and want to start her off living an aromatic lifestyle! Thanks, Kimberly
