Guest guest
Hi Alison Grapeseed oil I think would be the carrier of choice for a nut allergic person. Although it can't be cold-pressed as the grapeseeds don't give out their oil content unless they're heated, so it doesn't contain much in the way of vitamins and is pretty neutral. Excellent in salad dressings and for cooking too, and contains no cholesterol, like olive oil. You can even buy it in Sainsbury's! I like to use it on people with very oily skin as it's so light, and also when it's extremely hot - not a problem you'd get in Scotland though! It has about the same slip as almond oil, perhaps a little less. What about adding a little jojoba - that's made from a bean and is actually a liquid (at room temperature) wax. Just avoid almond, peanut (also known as arachis) and wheatgerm if they have a wheat allergy too. By the way, my book is on aromatherapy for all ages, in fact that will probably be the title, but it's not due out til the end of 2001! I'm looking forward to it. It was such a pleasure to meet Helen on my recent visit to Cape Town. Moira, the Faerie Godmother
