Guest guest
Hi if anyone can help I would greatly apprectiate it! I am a student studying anatomy, physiology, massage and aromatherapy, I live in the UK but will be returning to the states in the fall of this year when my studies are finished... I am trying to find out what requirements there are to practicing massage and or aromatherapy massage in the USA, We don't know what state we will be in yet~~military~~ but ANY clue would be greatly appreciated. Also I am looking for a SIMPLE diagram of the olfactory system... I am not much of an artist and have been told that on the examination, more than likely we will be asked to draw and label the olfactory system!! HELP!! Thanks! Guest guest
Rosemarie, The laws for the practice of massage differ from state to state. Not all states have licensure, but many do. Most states that have licensure require a minimum of 500 hours of massage instruction, and this is broken down into different subject areas. Knowing the UK programs very well (I lived there and also studied there for a few years), the massage instruction in the aromatherapy programs fall well below the hours required for licensed US practice. You can check the American Massage Therapy website to see if they have state licensure info, or you can search for the individual state government websites. State gov't websites always have a site that outlines professional licensure requirements.
