Apparently this formula is also called Ling Shu Ban Xia Shu Mi Tang. It appears in a discussion on Jiao Tai Wan (Communication Stabilising Pills). Jiao Tai Wan is used for palpitations and restless sleep due to heart and kidneys not communicating. It combines Huang Lian, which it uses to clear heart fire and restrain rampant heart yang, with small quantities of Rou Gui, which it uses not only to channel down heart fire so that it can communicate with the kidneys below, but also to steam kidney water so that it can conserve heart yang above. The following is a rough translation of the Chinese language discussion: According to He Lian Chen, " Han Fei Xia devised this formula (i.e. Jiao Tai Wan) for the treatment of palpitations and insomnia. It is capable of re-opening communication between the heart and kidneys in a split second. Wang Chun Pu combined it with " Miraculous Pivot: Pinellia Tuber - Husked Sorghum Brewage " (i.e. Ling Shu Ban Xia Shu Mi Tang) for yin damage and abundant yang. In one of his patients, the left cun pulse was flooding and floating; both chi pulses were sinking and thin; every afternoon, there were fevers with mild thirst and palpitations; every night, there were feelings of dissatisfaction - a fondness for scolding people and crying with an all-night-long inability to sleep. Various other herbs were used without results, but after one dose of this combination, peaceful sleep was completely restored " . Ling Shu Ban Xia Shu Mi Tang is made by combining ban xia with shu mi. Ban xia dries dampness and dispels phlegm. Once the phlegm-damp has been eliminated, the passageways for ascent and descent of yin and yang are no longer obstructed, the heart fire is once more able to circulate below and the kidney water is once more able to conserve above. When the communications between the heart and kidneys are reopened, the desired results are achieved. From the above, it would seem to me that Ling Shu Ban Xia Shu Mi Tang is able to help curtail disharmony of the yin and yang heel vessels by helping to harmonise yin and yang when circulation is obstructed by cold phlegm or damp phlegm. Guest guest
Hi Christa Maria, Welcome to the list ! I was interested to see that you are highly sensitive to fragrances. I am too. However, I have been using essential oils for about five years now with no trouble. I use them in place of perfumes as well as for other purposes. As long as I stick to high quality oils I have no problems. Is this your experience also? I assume from this evidence that it is something the manufacturers use in fragrances and perfumes, rather than the scents themselves , that triggers my allergic reactions. Have any of the others of you had this experience?
