Guest guest
- Dr. Leo Rebello voice Thursday, January 25, 2007 11:50 AM LETTER OF THE DAY Mirror Reader Dr. Leo Rebello sent us this striking letter exposing Indian double standards. Defense budget is kept secret, lest enemy countries may know our army strength. But Republic Day parade with heavy artillery, missiles, rockets is held in full glory inspite of high security threats and when poor of Delhi shiver in the cold. Photography is not allowed at Gateway of India (a monument of slavery) because of some Navy offices adjoining it, but foreigners clicking with their zoom lenses from the Tajmahal Hotel, chalta hai. With Google earth I can see even my Samata Nagar, though not what is going on inside the apartments (saving grace). So does the "photography not allowed" make any sense? Mobile phones are allowed everywhere, in Mantralaya, in Courts. But at the Police Commissioner's and DCPs' offices phones are not allowed. The reason is obvious. Someone may get the protectors themselves by taping. That Ramadossa (I refuse to call him Dr. because MBBS is only a Bachelor's degree), strutting everywhere as India's Health Minister advertises dubious polio vaccines with live polio viruses and heavy poisons (he refuses to accept that vaccines have created 40 lakhs autism cases in India), but says he is going to clamp down on Swami Ramdev's actual claims as tall claims by changing Magic Remedies Act to suit the quack medicine called allopathy which has created 20,000 odd diseases but claim to treat (not cure) only 200 (1% efficacy). We need to clamp down on these double standards, forthwith. Dr. Leo Rebello 28 Samata Nagar, Kandivali East, Mumbai 400101.
