Guest guest
Dear friend, many people with ROSACEA are very sensitive on high curbs food, acidic food and alcohol most likely because they suffer from fungal caused rosacea. I do not know is it Candidas reciditive or something else, but there is the way we have to go to search for cure. I also think that all kind of aruwedic cleansing might help the situation. I did several liver and colon cleansing, but also I treat my rosacea with Antifungual cream (Terbinafin HCL) and my rosacea is almost gone. Now I can eat cake and drink beer? Guest guest
Dear Friends, I have a very specific question that I'd like to ask: do any of you find that refined sugar consumption exascerbates your rosacea? I have a strong suspicion that sugar is the beast behind my most recent flares. I had just completed my first Ayurvedic cleanse last week, and was feeling so fabulous. Skin was pale and lustrous, and not a hint of redness or inflammation. Then, I had a birthday, and my friends made me a beautiful cake. I had a sense that I should avoid it, but for the sake of politeness and graciousness, I had a small piece. Woke up the next morning with the most HORRIBLE flared skin, almost as though I'd never done the cleanse in the first place. Not only was my face completely red, but my eyes were literally swollen shut and watering profusely. Ugh! This was 3 days ago. My skin is calmed somewhat (no longer burning as much), and has experienced the giant " peel " that comes after a sunburn. It is still very red though. This is my pattern. In fact, I've started referring to my rosacea flares as " sunburns from within. " It feels like a really accurate assessment of what's happening physically. Anyone else have this type of experience with sugar? I keep a " flare journal, " and it seems that sugar has been incriminated in many of the most awful episodes. Damn. Thanks for your input. Guest guest
Jen, I'm sorry to hear about your flare up. But, before you blame refined sugar have you any reactions to other foods? What about an allergy to wheat, eggs, chocolate? You might need to do some other controlled experiments. How about food coloring? Was the cake organic or a mix from a box? Go back through your flare up journal and look for other ingredients when you have your flare ups. Yes, refined sugar is bad, we all know that, but there are other things out there that are just as refined and bad for our system. I hope this helps. I want to make sure you find everything you have a reaction to so you can correct your diet properly. - JR One Love what do you think? jenbernard2004 [jen] Wednesday, May 19, 2004 4:40 PM Sugar Woes Dear Friends, I have a very specific question that I'd like to ask: do any of you find that refined sugar consumption exascerbates your rosacea? Guest guest
I get flares from eating processed carbs, especially candy but I'm not sure if it is the sugar or the chocolate. I'm glad the cleanse worked so well for you.
Guest guest
Hi Jen Good question. Refined white sugar is a food item that should be avoided by everyone. It is absorbed into the body far too fast which disrupts the functioning of the pancreas and liver plus affects the blood and meridians. Mentally, it is ungrounding. However, the sweet taste needs to be present in a balanced diet. Unrefined and unbleached sugar is the ideal choice. You can find this in the health food store by the name of Sucanat. My favorite is called Rapadura under the Rapunzel brand. People with rosacea should be moderate with any sugar including sugar from fruit. When done cleansing and symptom free, you can be more liberal with sugar. The kapha body type does better with moderate amounts of honey. Chinese medicine says too much sugar creates dampness in the body which contributes to congestion. Refined white sugar is one of the worst food items of the modern diet. In the future, you might just take one bite of cake to keep up apperances. Better yet, make your own cake from unrefined sugar and whole wheat flour for special occasions. Guest guest
Thanks for the responses, JR and OneLove. To clarify my sugar experience a bit, I have known for many years that I'm horribly allergic to chocolate, and have avoided it religiously. As a child, I would break out in terrible eczema rashes if I ate chocolate or citrus. So that's definitely clear to me. I understand now that chocolate is very damp and hot in Chinese medicine, and it makes sense that my system can't tolerate it. In fact, I have a hard time tolerating any foods that are classified as damp-heat producing: Avocados, cheese, dairy, sweets, penauts, coconuts, oranges, coffee, crustaceans, Spicy food, MSG (horrible stuff!), yogurt, vanilla, soy sauce, spinach, all citrus and histamine-producing foods such as nightshades. Every single thing on this list gives me skin trouble, and pretty much has disagreed with my digestion for my whole life. I've always called the reaction " food allergies, " because it feels like my body is sending out an onslaught of inflammatory chemicals to protect itself from the invaders. Wheat and eggs seem to be OK for me, though I suspect that the offending cake may have come from a box, and thus could've contained MSG. Everything processed and packaged seems to have that crap. Today, my skin is doing better. The giant peel is continuing, and there's lovely pale skin underneath. I am going for acupuncture again, and that seems to facilitate the healing process a lot. Also drinking horribly bitter Chinese herb tea. At least I didn't get the wingless cockroaches this time! (Chinese medicine joke here...I got them before and had to boil them, then drink the infusion!) Thanks again, Jen , OneLove <alchematron> wrote: > Hi Jen > > Good question.
