PC,

I'd love to know what diet you followed. Were you very strict with

your diet?

Do you follow the Ayurvedic Pitta diet? I'm following this diet and am

not sure what I can eat. I have purchased the Ayurvedic Healing

by Dr. David Frawley book and have also made a printout of the Pitta

diet on http://ayurveda.com which has been recomended by OneLove.

These two diets are a little different and I've seen instances where

one allows you to eat something and the other says avoid it.

I've been very strict on my diet and don't drink cow's milk, don't eat

any meat or fish, don't eat any diary, sweet foods, white flour,

tomatoes, spices etc.

I would love to know what type of foods you eat and what foods you

stay away from.

Any suggestions on a good, healthy balanced breakfast?

Also, I drink a lot of water. I always drink it and even drink it

before, during and after meals. I was told by a colon therapist that I

should wait at least 30 mins before and after eating food. Is this

information right?

Many thanks

Mani

P.S I did my first Liver Cleanse on Saturday. Will send a separate

post of my experience.

Hi Mani,

Congrats on getting through one flush!

What do I eat... well, I am naturally a healthy eater. I love my

steamed or sauteed vegetables. I love spices like turmeric,

coriander and cumin. I don't know if they're all pitta-friendly, but

they seem good to me.

For breakfast I make cooked cereal: Scottish oatmeal or Red Mill's

10 grain. First, though, I grind up 4 table spoons of either hemp

seeds or flax seeds, put them in a bowl, add rice or soy milk and

eat 'em up. See, I don't know if the heat of the cooked cereal would

destroy their oils. So, I just eat 'em first. Then I have my cereal

that I decorate with one of those milks, grade B maple syrup,

cinnamon, coriander, ginger, coconut shreds, raisins, almonds or

walnuts. I take enzymes with breakfast, multis, lecithin, fish oil.

Sometimes, of course, I change things around. But that was an

average description.

Lunch is at work and the easiest thing to eat is a sandwich. I stuff

a pita bread with things like " unturkey " or " unchicken " from the

health food store. And/or avocado slices and tomato slices. I've

eaten some organic (Applegate Farms) turkey lately. Sometimes I take

a container of my mung bean or lentil stew to work.

Between breakfast and lunch I have herbal teas and the famous

Bragg's apple cider vinegar concotion (see it on the Bragg's ACV

bottle, or look them up on line).

After lunch is digested I like some berries, or mango.

Dinner generally involves some steamed or sauteed vegetable, oil on

top, some organic feta cheese; often my mung bean or lentil stew

(One Love's recipe is in the files). Sometimes I make soup.

Anyway, I like this food. It's a pleasure. I haven't gotten an

Ayurvedic cook book. Am I strict? That's relative: I probably look

like an alien from Pluto to someone eating the good old American

diet. But, people have always called me " strange " . And I think you

can guess what I think back in return.

Well, that's it. Nothing esoteric, outrageous, expensive or

difficult.

Yes, this is correct. You don't want to dilute your stomach acids. I

sip herbal tea, water, Apple Cider vinegar drink all day. You can

find teas made for pitta types, and/or sip cleansing ones like

fennel with dandelion (two separate tea bags in one mug).

For the record, I don't think just eating right and drinking right

is going to get rid of the rosacea. You really need to do the

cleanse and the flush; anyway, I did. The proper diet will help you

stay healthy. You'll feel the diff.

Hi Mani

When you see a difference on a food list, put the food

to the test and see what works best for you. A good

solid breakfast can be made from cooked rice cereal, a

teaspoon of clarified butter or olive oil, some raw

sugar, rice milk and some fruit. Yes, the information

from your colonic therapist is good.

All the best

Thanks for your input PC.

I am currently trying to follow the Pitta diet. The issue I'm having

is that I'm a very healthy eater too and it seems that I'm losing

weight. Before I started the Liver cleanse I used to eat a lot of

meat/fish. I am now on a vegetarian diet due to cleansing.

I've actually lost quite a bit of weight due to the diet change and

I want to try and get my weight back up.

For breakfast, I used to drink a lot of Skimmed milk with Cornflakes

or Shredded Wheat. I did try so many alternatives to milk e.g. oat,

rice, almond, Soya etc. but I didn't like any of them. I finally

found chilled Soya milk that is quite tasty. However, when I ate it

with shredded wheat, I had a stomach pain.

I've had problems with my stomach for quite a while now. The Dr said

I have IBS. My stomach has been bloated for a year now. Anyway, I

don't think the milk agreed with me. Not sure if it was because the

milk was cold, or due to me eating Shredded Wheat with it.

I now just eat a banana and 2 whole meal toasts. Or I eat 2 whole

meal toasts with scrambled egg white, boiled egg (white only) or an

egg white omelet.

I have also stopped drinking tea. I usually had a cup in the morning

and then drink water throughout the day. Now I just drink water.

What herbal teas do you drink PC? Can anyone recommend any nice

cleansing teas?

I mainly eat whole meal bread, rice, vegetables, fruit (mango,

bananas, red apples), chic peas, lentils, potatoes and Soya mince.

I now stay away from tomatoes, Egg plant, milk, diary, Meat/Fish,

salt, ginger, garlic, raw onions, cayenne pepper, other spices,

sugar, white flour etc. etc. I do think staying away from all the

above is excessive but it's worth it if my face gets better.

I very rarely eat sugar, but I was naughty yesterday and decided to

eat a few weight watcher cookies and I had some tea (only because I

wanted to fatten up). For some reason my face feels a bit red today.

Especially around my nose :( I guess it may have been the food I ate.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my next cleanse now. Hopefully I

won't lose any more weight.

Hi Mani,

Gosh, have you got some other issues going on to give you IBS? I

really don't know anything about it. The only time my stomach was

bloated was before I did liver flushing. Clearing up my liver, I

imagine, helped unclog it so it can now send in the proper bile for

digestion.

I'm thinking -- maybe some liver foods for you like dandelion and

artichoke (you'll have to search on line for a complete list AND it

always helps to listen to yourself: see if you feel like eating

certain things.)

Instead of the toast, how about cooked ceral in the morning? I make

Bob's Red Mill and put all kinds of things on top: coconut shreds,

raisins, shakes of ginger, cinammon, cardamom, nutmeg; a touch of

grade B maple syrup, and soy or rice milk. Oh, I also start off by

grinding in my little all-purpose mill 3 heaping tablespoons of flax

seeds. I eat this first with a splash of a milk (I eat it first in

case mixing it with hot cereal in a bowl ruins its oils).

You asked about herbal teas. One that I like is the Yogi Cocoa

spiced tea. It's all the good spices (cinammon, cardamom, ginger,

etc. and some ground cocoa shells for the cocoa flavor. Perhaps the

shells don't have caffiene? I don't know. But it's tasty. Also I get

Pitta tea from this source: www.mapi.com. You might be able to find

Pitta tea at your health food store, too.

Did you do the Ayurvedic cleanse described in the files? It really

and truly takes the heat down! Just wait till day 3 or 4!

Good luck!!

Hi Mani

I would recommend folowing the diet guidelines for

this group as closely as possible. Losing some initial

weight should be expected since this is a cleansing

diet. Once you have gone through the cleansing phase

and no longer have the symptoms of rosacea, you can

then return to a more substantial diet. You can read

in Dr. David Frawley's book Ayurvedic Healing about

the cleansing and building diet principles.

Depending upon your body type, gaining or losing

weight can be dependent upon not just diet, but also

lifting weights. These would be compound exercises

like squats and dead lifts twice a week. Strengthening

digestion through diet and lifstyle guidelines is also

a factor too. Best not to use cold soy milk since it

weakens the digestive fire.

I am not an expert on irritable bowel syndrome, but

from what I have read, it is related to the modern

diet and the guidelines for this group will have a

positive impact. You might ask Andreas Moritz about

this.

Best regards
