Hey everyone,

I'm going to prepare for my Ayurvedic Cleanse which starts next week

and I want to make sure I have everything that is required.

Castor Oil & Dashamula Root Mix - Where can I get these items from

the UK? Does any UK residents know? I tried a Health shop but they

didn't sell these items. I try not to use Online retailers that are

not well established, so I'm reluctant to give my CC details.

Sunflower Oil - What type of Sunflower Oil do I use? I've seen many

cooking Sunflower oils but I wasn't sure if this cleanse was

referring to that.

Thanks

Mani :)

Hi Mani

In a reply to one of my posts, OneLove said that burdock root may be

used instead of dashmula for the emema (if you can't find any

dashmula in the UK)

Jane

Hi Mani,

Odd how one can't find " castor oil " in the UK. The other term for it

is ricin oil. Perhaps you can find it under this name? My

Continental grandmother would speak about " ricinus " as a cure for

constipation. So, that's a variation on " ricin " .

I mail ordered by dashamula here in the US. I seem to recall OneLove

saying Burdock root is a substitute. (Did I remember that oorrectly,

OL?)

Regarding the Sunflower oil, first time I did the self massage I got

the pricier oil. The following time I got the cheaper (but still

name brand). Guess what -- the pricier one was thicker and better to

use. (The thinner one splashed all over the bathroom!)

I hope this helps, somewhat. Beyond this, all I can think is a) ring

the Hale Clinic, in London and see if someone might be able to help

you with the names of ingredients and substitutions. Perhaps they

are enlightened? or b) persist. In London, near the Warwick Avenue

tube (IIRC) I found an independent health food store with all kinds

of unusual merchandise. I absolutely cannot remember its name (or if

it even had one!)What town are you in, Mani?

Regards,

Hi Mani

You can substitute dashmula with burdock root

available form a herb store. Castor oil is available

at the drug store. Refined Sunflower oil can be found

at the health food store.

Here in the states Spectrum Naturals is a good brand.

Their website is http://www.spectrumorganics.com

Best regards with your first ayurvedic cleanse.

Thanks for the information everyone.

In regard to the Sunflower Oil, I assumed that there was some

special sort of Sunflower Oil that was used only for the body. I was

reluctant to purchase the food/cooking oil due to this.

PC, I live in Langley (which is about 10 minutes away from Windsor).

I've ordered the Triphala capsules from the US and would now need to

order the Enema Kit, Sunflower Oil & Dashamula Root Mix. Hopefully I

will get these products soon so I can start the cleanse.

Thanks again

Mani

Mani,

What off the shelf oils do you have available in the UK? Maybe

OneLove can tell you which one is also cooling, so you don't have to

spend money importing oil from the US.

I've been trying to think of the name of that health food store near

Warwick Avenue. I'll see if I have an old credit card statement.

although, it might have been a cash only place. they had so many

weird and wonderful things, including a fermented drink from Germany

that I never saw anywhere else. Tasted like saurkraut juice.
