Guest guest
Dear Kimberly, If we really consider the vastness of Ayurveda, we understand that Ayurvedic references cover geographical references from China (Chin) to Yunan (Greek and allied European places). I personally feel that when Ayurveda described the properties of any food substance or herb, the broader and common aspects were prominently mentioned. Place-wise minor shifts and some of the finer aspects of substance are ought to occur depending on the prevailing soil conditions, water origins, atmospreric conditions and climate. These are considered as DESHA-specific modifications in Ayurveda. This is true in case of varieties of rice, wheat, mango and other items. The rice from India, Indonesia, China, Japan and other countries may slightly differ but the basic properties will remain the same. The same should be applied in case of cow's milk. There should be no bais in this case. If suppose milk is more heavier (GURU property), then some specific changes (SANSKARA) can be done to modify the unwanted properties and imbibe useful properties, like using cardamom, ginger, turmeric and like-wise other herbs alngwith milk to suit the purpose of end medicinal use or daily health purpose. So, I think that cow's milk will be cow's milk wherever on earth, be it India or any other country, easten or western. Please do not get irritated and emotinal about the issue. All such type of off-beat discussions take place because we have our own prejudiced views about Ayurveda or may be we like to mix our religious views with Ayurvedic scientific principles which leads to lot of confusion, commotion and unneccesary arguments. And in the end, all the bills are drawn in name of Ayurveda, effectively discrediting it's scientific basis. So,enjoy the benefits of cow's milk mentioned in Ayurveda, irrespective of the country to which the cow may belong. Iti Alam. Dr.D.B.Muzumdar M.D.(Ayur.Med) ______ .......i just get a bit irritated that there is such a negative connotation of cows in America when I didn't see better standards in India..
