If you have studied NLP you will have discovered that we are all programmed

and sometimes this can be in undesirable ways - ways that cause pain and

suffering, not only to ourselves but to those around us - NLP can be used

creatively to heal a spirit by improving the quality of life for the subject

and everyone around them - would you say that a wrinkled shirt is not

improved by being ironed?

 

Spirit is in everyone and everyone has the right to improve their

" presentation " that is to smooth out the rough edges that life may have

caused to allow the Spirit within each one to shine more strongly and more

purely.

it's great if u use it with discrimination, like any other powerfull method. it

can help alot but i also saw the effects on people using it wrong.

this is very true

i feel these painful memories affect DNA and become disease.

I do not think we can really altar god's plan for us - if we improve ourselves

we will not hurt others and will not create us much negative karma for

ourselves.

I do not use NLP persae - but I have found that truly the root of a lot of

illness is either in pain or is the result of bad karma.

If we can remove pain - emotional pain we can polish the self and open ourselves

up to growth and change.

Memories an be blocked for sure to protect us from pain.

Pressure point massage - marmatherapy is very useful in releasing some of the

emotional pain - blocked emotions etc.

Learning to change our vasanas releases us from the bondage of maya and helps us

reduce arishadvargas - kama, kroda lobha moha mada matsara.

When we get rid of our ain rwe reduce our desire, anger, greed, conciet,

delusion and jealousy and slowly remove the ahankar to present the divine self.

I would like to applaud Jane on this post. NLP like all systems that

can actually create change in human beings - toward the better - is a

system that replaces the disease forming habitual pattern with a new

healthier pattern. This is true on the mental, physical, and spiritual

levels.

 

There is nothing new about the concepts of NLP - such techniques have

been used since ancient times. As an example - the concept in NLP

called 'Anchoring' is the foundation concept in many of the greatest

spiritual development techniques. Anchoring is direct confrontation

with the negative habit pattern by replacing it with a neutral or

positive pattern. This uses a technique of rememberence - such as

going to the breath, the Mantra, the Mala, God's names, awareness of

the sensations, awareness of the thoughts, awareness of the Hara, etc.

Theses techniques have been advocated by all of the traditions.

 

As far as building a new life style by planning out and emplimenting

a new style - this technique is also used by many of our greatest

teachers. If you go to my Teacher's Monastery you will find that

almost every moment of every day has been planned out for you and you

are expected to obey every rule and follow every detail of the

schedule - you are expected to conduct yourself in a very particular

and prescribed manner - all of this is carefully designed for our

benefit by the Teacher. These techniques have worked to help millions

throughout history.

 

The people who follow such techniques believe that we have been

conditioned to be unhealthy and unhappy, and to solve this problem we

must break the old conditioned patterns and replace them with higher

and healthier patterns. Ayurveda is the science of life - meaning

there is a science to life and we should come to understand this

science and live according to the laws of this science having to do

with health and happiness. Perhaps in the beginning the new patterns

will appear as false or unnatural but as they become a natural part of

us we will find ourselves automatically acting and reacting in

healthier ways.

 

Two anecdotes - A friend in Trissur who is a very wise person said of

another friend of ours who was having many problems in life - " He does

not know there is a tommorow - he has no plans for success therefore

he never gets any success except through lucky chance. " Another - A

man asked " How can I get my father to take his medicines - he never

remembers? " I said it must be something important enough for him first

of all and second he must develop a strategy to recall it - a new

habit pattern - get a pill timer and let him carry it with him until

he gets the new schedule in place - learning new habits often takes

strategies and planning.
